State kicker survey
One question survey on whether to retain some of the $666 million kicker. I thought the kicker was for budget surplus. How did we end up with $666 million surplus, anybody know?

2. I didn't mean that
I think the kicker law is fine. What I'm wondering though, is why we didn't spend the $666 million.

3. I need to look it up, but don't they figure it by..
How much we estimate we need for the budget?

If they estimate 1.5 billion and they get 1.6 billion, then they send back .1 billion, even if the estimates are wrong?

I really need to educate myself on this. Thanks for bringing it up. :)

They estimate revenues, 2 years out. If our economy improves, no matter what kind of budget disaster we've got because of what we might have gone through, kick those unanticipated revenues back. You're right, stupid law. I thought it was more reality based than that, but I should have known reality and Republicans never mix.

Here's an article

5. Organism, depakid and I were discussing this last night at the Meetup...
We also talked about Rose Parade weekend. We're planning on having the meetup downtown, somewhere easy to find for you out-of-towners. :)

6. I will plan on coming
But I can't promise, never know what might come up between now and then. So make sure you guys think of yourselves first. Not sure that a meetup in the middle of the Rose Parade would be my first choice if I could avoid it!
