Portland people less standoffish than Seattle people?
Edited on Wed Mar-30-05 08:49 AM by Cascadian
I have just returned from a weekend visit to Portland. As always I always enjoy my stay in Stumptown and look forward to returning. I have always noticed another thing about Portland. People are less standoffish or pretentious than in Seattle. Am I the only person that has noticed this? People are generally reserved as in all of the Northwest, but Portlanders seem more willing to talk to you than people in Seattle. I had people come to me and actually chat with me when I went out to one of your many bars and clubs. A couple of people even said "Good Morning." To me. Amazing.

I also want to give more kudos to Portland for generally have it's act together in regards to mass transit and general land management. You have a real gem of a city and I hope it continues to stay that way. People are also more progressive than up here too. I am sorry to any Seattlites reading this but it's true.

Who knows? I may even seriously consider moving across the big creek!

John

1. I guess I would agree, generally.
But I don't like to go down the old Seattle-Portland rivalry road too often. Both cities offer a great deal, IMHO. Yeah, I chose Portland, but I can certainly see the appeal of Seattle, and I visit often. In my experience, both towns have sub-populations that are somewhat stand-offish, if you will. But I have generally enjoyed good, open, friendly company in both cities.

Salud.
