Dean/Perle Debate

Feb 17 at the Schnitz.

http://www.pacificu.edu/news_events/events/forum/

I just got my tickets. I'm stoked. First time ever
seeing HD in person.

I wonder if they'll let us boo Perle and all that.
I doubt it.

2. On the linked page it says it's being sponsored by KXL,
which is a local AM radio station. You might try
their web site.

15. KXL's not about to give Dean a fair hearing on anything

The Lars Larson Show

The Best of Bill O'Reilly

The Tony Snow Show

The Best of Lars Larson

The Michael Savage Show

The Lars Larson Show Nationwide

4. Dean vs. "the Prince of Darkness"
I'd love to see that one. Richard Perle is one crooked, slimy bastard.

5. I betcha if I yelled "Oh Bullshit" at him they'd throw me out.
Edited on Sun Jan-23-05 07:08 PM by kaitykaity
Either that or they'll have him in a soundproof room where
he won't see us flipping him off.

Chomsky vs. Perle - 1988 - Ohio State University

"This is brilliant display of knowledge, logic and evidence used agaist insults, ignorance and arrogance."

Or in short, Chomsky demolishes a neocon charlatan. And that was 16 years ago. How little it seems things -- and people -- change.

8. Perle spent the entire time hurling personal insults.
Edited on Mon Jan-24-05 12:45 PM by kaitykaity
Chomsky just devastated him. At the end he was reduced
to monosyllables or "I have nothing to add to that."

ROTFLMAO.

9. And this is EXACTLY why the NeoCons had Reagan kill the Fairness Doctrine
Edited on Mon Jan-24-05 08:43 PM by NEOBuckeye
They realized that they could never win in a fair fight versus open-minded, logical and rational thought. Hence why we have so much of Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter and Faux News today. Of course, Perle is also still walking to and fro within the earth.

I wonder if Dean has listened to this debate? Someone should forward him the links to these audio files. On the other hand, it's not like Perle's strategy has changed much in all these years. He's still just as arrogant as ever.

10. The boos always resound quite loudly at this event.
No one gets kicked out. They need the fun to continue, so they can sell tix each year.

11. Do tell, do tell.

Have you been to one? Who did you see? Is it a
young crowd?

Come on, spill.

12. I got to see Molly Ivins pounce on William Kristol last year.
And I saw Alan Dershowitz calmly rip apart Ralph Reed's religious fervor a few years ago. Last year, we got lucky, as some friends with tix had to go out of town -- I haven't been able to break down and spend the money since the Dershowitz-Reed battle. The crowd is lively, and quite varied in age, though it did seem to have a greater veneer of youth last year than what I remember from the past. Still, the crowds have nearly always been decidedly and unabashadley wise enough to be liberal!

We may be there too. We're debating it with our budget.

Enjoy!

13. Thank for the inside scoop.
I won't worry about being dressy then. We'll go
"grubby" and have a good time.

You should try and find a way. I doubt Perle will
get anything past Dr. Howard. The prices are still only
$20 each. I scrounged -- understand that budget thing
real well.

Hope you can go. That'd be cool to have a DU contingent
there.

14. I think we're leaning toward going.
One thing I forgot to mention (I think I blocked it out subconsciously)... is that there usually is a small but loud contingent of "young repugs" there. I suspect that this being the year that the country went completely nuts, re-electing the weed and all, that this contingent will be emboldened. Anyway, I guess I'm thinking we should go and help drown out the thugs.

Salud.
