Rural Oregonians -- Wanting to move out of Portland

I'd like to find a house on a small plot of land
out in Clackamas county somewhere.

Like out towards Sandy in some of the hilly country
out there.

Anybody know where to look? I never find anything
in the paper.

1. Ah, you seek Happy Valley
Drive southeast on Foster Road until the city and suburbs melt away, and the road crosses over a simple covered wooden bridge. Then you will be in Happy Valley and you will find the home of your dreams.

(Yes, it really is called "Happy Valley")

2. Yeah, I know that place.
Right up the road from the Veteran's Cemetary
on Mt. Scott.

Not far enough out for us. We want a house in the
woods, you know?

3. what?
And leave the bliss of Hawthorne?

Does Sandy have its own little newspaper? Or maybe there's an East County edition of the Oregonian. Or you might have to work with a Realtor out there. My cousin found a marvel of a house out there -- it's round, and made of cement blocks. Never saw anything like it before.

4. lol.

Yeah, I love Hawthorne, but I want to live out in the
woods for a while. My mom has an RV and it's costing her
$375 a month to park the d*mn thing. I figure if we
got a house with some property and faced the thing away
from my house...

Your cousin's realtor have a name? That would be very
cool.

6. wow...
...maybe it would be a good thing to buy a plot of land and park other peoples' RVs. That's a chunk of change for parking!

Are you renting in Portland? I'm gonna be looking for a rental in a couple of months. Need to be near family who are located on 40th and Harrison.

Craig's list is the best site around to find what you're
looking for.

http://portland.craigslist.org/hhh/

That's in Southeast Portland, so this search would
help you. There's a share for $325 a month on 35th &
Belmont -- my area.

5. Don't overlook Columbia County
Lots of such places out there and just as close in to Portland.

Warren and Columbia City and Deer Island are nice...

And it's a blue county.
