26 State Legislators Endorse Dan Boren for CD2
26 State Legislators Endorse Boren
Boren Humbled by Vote of Confidence

OKEMAH – Today 26 local Oklahoma legislators endorsed State Representative Dan Boren in his bid to represent Eastern Oklahoma in the United States Congress. All 26 legislators represent parts of the 2nd Congressional District.

“No one is more Oklahoman than Dan Boren,” said Senator Ben Robinson (D-Muskogee). “He’ll take our rural values to Washington and bring quality jobs back to the district. He’ll fight for us. He’s the right man for the job.”

“Dan Boren represents the best in our new generation of leaders,” said House Speaker Larry Adair (D-Stilwell). “In the legislature, he helped balance the budget while still finding more money for teachers and health care. He is thoughtful, well-informed, and passionate about serving the people of Oklahoma. He will make a great congressman.”

“I am humbled by the endorsement of these 26 remarkable leaders,” said Dan Boren. “They are quality people who work hard to represent their constituents at the state capitol. I want to take our rural Oklahoma values and do the same in Washington.”

Dan Boren made history when he became the first ever freshman legislator elected by his peers as his party’s incoming caucus chair. As a member of the State House leadership team, Boren has focused on bringing jobs and economic opportunities to his district.

Boren fought to protect economic assistance for Oklahoma’s rural communities by saving the Rural Economic Action Plan from budget cuts. He also fought to spare rural schools from crippling budget blows by serving as the primary co-author of legislation that infused much needed dollars into Oklahoma’s schools without raising taxes.

Last year, Dan Boren worked to pass important legislation. He fought to raise teachers’ salaries and to fully funded teachers’ insurance. Another piece of legislation will now create the Belle Maxine Hilliard Breast and Cervical Cancer Treatment Revolving Fund.

The list of State Representatives endorsing Boren includes Larry Adair (D-Stilwell), John Carey (D-Durant), Joe Eddins (D-Vinita), Jerry Ellis (D-Valliant), Randall Erwin (D-Nashoba), Terry Harrison (D-McAlester), Jerry Hefner (D-Wagoner), Joe Hutchison (D-Jay), M.C. Leist (D-Morris), Mike Mass (D-Hartshorne), Ray Miller (D-Whitefield), Bob Plunk (D-Ada), Larry Rice (D-Pryor), Paul Roan (D-Tishomingo), Larry Roberts (D-Miami), Glen Bud Smithson (D-Sallisaw), Barbara Staggs (D-Muskogee), and Dale Turner (D-Holdenville).

Members of the State Senate endorsing Dan Boren include Kenneth Corn (D-Poteau), Mary Easly (D-Tulsa), Jay Paul Gumm (D-Durant), Rick Littlefield (D-Grove), Herb Rozell (D-Tahlequah), Ben Robinson (D-Muskogee), Frank Shurden (D-Henryetta), and Dick Wilkerson (D-Atwood).

“I’m voting for Dan Boren because he’s like us. He’s an Oklahoman first,” said Larry Rice, Majority Floor Leader. “He understands the importance of bringing quality jobs to Eastern Oklahoma.”

1. More DINOs
Edited on Fri Jul-16-04 03:18 AM by hippywife
supporting another DINO. Oklahoma is full of them. As long as they and their business interests continue to control OK we will always be the state last in everything good and first in everything bad.

The right-leaning nature of many Dems in this state makes one wonder if there really aren't Republicans who have been parading themselves as Dems for years in order to stop any type of progressive politics from taking hold. It's truly "Alice through the looking glass" scary around here where they are concerned.

2. Boy Howdy...is this race getting nasty
I live in CD one, so I won't be voting, but from the looks of all the t.v.commercials, I'd say that Boren has his work cut out for him. I bet he thought he would skate through. Kaylen Free is a pistol!

3. Why do you support him?
You rip Carson for being Repug Lite but you support Dan Boren who is pro life. Typical hypocrite. Plus, where the fuck would Dan Boren be without his fathers name?

I also find it amusing Boren is against gay marriage when in fact the worst kept secret in the state is that his father is a closeted homosexual. I've spent too much time in Norman and heard to many stories, Yella.

6. He supported veterans when Free rejected us
Edited on Sat Jul-17-04 07:49 AM by yelladawg
We begged Kayln Free to sit down with different Veteran groups to discuss our problems. She refused every time we asked. We put together a Veteran Forum which she refuse to attend.

We have discovered some people simply don't like Veterans and she is one.

Dan Boren has only seen his Father David Boren a few times during his life. He was raised by a step father. David Boren was always in Washington DC and hardly knows his son.

Don't talk about birth rights, Kayln screams everywhere she goes that she is Cherokee Indian and how the "Indians should vote with their race". That smacks of racism to me.

7. Free did not reject vets
she rejected a few who demanded where and when she was to meet with them without regard to her schedule. She offered them alternate times and places to meet but they declined.

Kalyn free does not hate or dislike vets but there are some that definitely are out to get her in order to put the Republican-lite Boren in office.

You got a link to that quote by Kalyn, Yelladawg?

So far, you have yet to debate with regard to issues...only baseless attacks.

8. Well let's debate
Here, I will go one step further. Kayln has lied about the entire situation with Veterans. She has rejected the offers of meetings with several different large group of Veterans.

You will believe her side. Veterans in CD2 will vote the truth.
