Major Paul Hackett DU group anyone?
I started this topic in GD and am cross posting it here.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x5362317

Major Paul Hackett DU group anyone?

I met, spoke with and heard Paul Hackett speak last Saturday night. This guy is the real deal (for those of you just returning from Mars who didn't alread know that ! ;P ) When this guy gerts in the Senate, the DNC will have him up front and center alongside Barbara Boxer every chance they get. And any guy who calls shrubbie a "sob" is alright by me!

Anyway, I think a Major Hackett adoration group is in order. I think I need 10 DUers with stars after their names to second this idea.

The missions statement could read (if everyone agrees) like the Conyers missions statement:

The mission of the DU Major Paul HackettGroup is to track and publicize Hackett's accomplishments and efforts as the challenger to the Ohio Senate seat of DeWine and any other areas in which he is politically involved, as well as to assist in his efforts by assisting in information gathering, on the local level.

Any takers?

kt

P.S. So far, I have four stars. Can I find six here in the Ohio forum?

Mr. Hackett until he does something a little more substantive than call Bush an SOB...

Brown, unlike Hackett, has a strong record of championing the progressive agenda... A proven record... And a competent legislator who knows Ohio inside and out...

So, unless Hackett can overwhelm, I'm reserving my vote for Brown...

BTW, Brown will get all the Unions to endorse him, the pro-choice organizations, the black Caucus, the Sierra Club, the State Party, most, if not all of the county parties, the teachers organizations, most of the daily newspapers, ethnic organization...

Why? Because here in Ohio, it takes more than a celebrity candidate to win an election....

5. OK Greenie, we won't mind you.
BTW, this is a Hackett thread and I'd certainly appreciate your not turning it into one for Brown.

You go get more endorsements for Brown and we'll "adore" Hackett. Okey dokey?

Thanx.

6. I'm not going to turn the thread into one for Brown...
I just wanted to voice another opinion...

That is still all right here on a Democratic site, last time I looked...

That's all....

BTW, I would APPRECIATE not being called "Greenie"....

11. Snarky?
Edited on Wed Nov-16-05 12:30 PM by Kukesa
Here's the definition from "Urban Dictionary:"

1. snarky

(adjective) describes a witty mannerism, personality, or behavior that is a combination of sarcasm and cynicism. Usually accepted as a complimentary term. Snark is sometimes mistaken for a snotty or arrogant attitude.

Now, WC, you meant that I'm witty, have a great personality, and a terrific behavior pattern. Didn't you? (Perish the thought that YOU could be mistaken.)

Thank you kindly, sir; I accept your compliment.

12. Lighten up a little bit
Honestly, you came into a Hackett thread to piss on his supporter's cornflakes, and now you're playing the victim.

Everyone in the Ohio Forum knows you have it out for Paul Hackett. We're all aware you support Sherrod Brown, and that you don't think Hackett has a chance at the nomination.

I'll never forget the '04 primaries here at DU. It blew my mind, the way fellow Dems infight and rip each others candidates apart. It's at the least disheartening to see it starting again already.

Couldn't we all just try to support the candidate we enjoy? Maybe in the spirit of the holidays? The primary is a long way off.

14. Seriously, I don't have it out for Hackett.....
I think he would make a fine congressman...

I just think someone who is going to represent me for six years needs a little more on the resume than a tude toward the president...

BTW, I am not trying to convince you one way or the other... Nor do I think I can...

And I won't get nasty during the campaign...

I would much rather show my support for Brown to the people who haven't all ready made up their minds...

It's far more productive...

All I have been doing is trying to add a bit of reality, as I see it, to the upcoming election....

Perhaps I just felt the need to respond since the person who started this thread is from California... That is all... I will say no more...

15. Again though
What does that have to do with this thread. This thread was about forming a DU group, no mention of Sherrod Brown or anyone else until you brought it up

16. I'm a Hackett supporter, but...
The OP called for support of Hackett in the form of a DU group. WCGreen didn't bash Hackett, he just said that he needed more concrete reasons to support him. I don't think it's necessarily inconsistent with the thread.

That said, can we let the issue drop and work on getting a Hackett Forum?

17. This thread
Wasn't about Hackett's campaign per se Its sle purpose was to try to form a DU group, their was no need for Brown's name to be brought into this thread.
