Blackwell's Fundraising
This tidbit is in today's (11/1) Columbus Dispatch:

"Prolific fundraiser signs with Blackwell in governor’s race
The Blackwell for Governor campaign turned heads on Capitol Square yesterday with the announcement that Scottie May has joined the campaign as a full-time fundraiser.
May is regarded as the most prolific political fundraiser in Ohio, with a Rolodex of potential contributors that extends well beyond the state’s borders. She has raised tens of millions of dollars for Gov. Bob Taft, President Bush and the Ohio Republican Party, as well as several Ohio issue campaigns, U.S. Senate candidates and Ohio judicial candidates.
In a statement yesterday, May said she joined Republican J. Kenneth Blackwell’s campaign because she believes he gives Ohio Republicans the "best chance for success in the November 2006 election."
Long considered the weakest fundraiser in the GOP gubernatorial field, which also includes Attorney General Jim Petro and state Auditor Betty D. Montgomery, Blackwell came on strong in the latest reporting period, topping the field in the first six months of the year with contributions of more than $1.24 million.
With May on board, Blackwell’s newfound prowess as a fundraiser should be enhanced. May leaves a lobbying and consulting firm operated by Brian K. Hicks, Taft’s former chief of staff."

By the way, a couple in my neighborhood (Delaware County) recently had an in-home Blackwell fund raiser -- $1,000 to have your picture taken with "the man."
