I need to rant, anyone up for it? Steve Chabot needs to GO
I just received another response to another letter I've written to Steve Chabot. Anyone else have this backward person as a congressman?

I can never get a response from him other than "I am not convinced"... Basically we don't agree on anything. I may as well be writing letters and putting them through the shredder. The only thing I can say and it may not be good is that his aide knows my name. I called about PBS instead of only writing. The aide asked my name and when I told him he said, Oh I recognize your name from all your letters. What good does all this do?

What democrats are running for office in SW Ohio in 06? Does anyone know? I am to the point that if I could figure out a way, I'd run myself. OK rant off for now.

1. Dem race in SW Ohio
Ohio Blues - Chabot, the comb-over king, reps CD 1. CD 2, the
seat recently vacated by Rob Portman to become *'s "T'raid Representative (sic, error intentional) is being contested. The rethug, jean scmidt, is a one-issue puppet for the * regime. she's "right-to-life" and nuthin' else. she's under investigation for not reporting some gifts when she was a statehouse representative. A real wingnut witch.
Our Dem candidate, Paul Hackett, is a terrific possibility to take the seat for we progressives the first time in twelve years. See his website <www.hackettforcongress.com> He can use help with funds, canvassing, phone-banking, etc. HQ is in Batavia,
but there are two offices in Cincy. The special election is AUG 2,
very little time left. Any OH folks who have some time can be
a major help. Thanks in advance!

2. This will be my 2nd vote only in Ohio
I don't know the boundries for being able to vote for Hackett. Not that I wouldn't help him get elected. Where is the cut off for his district? I don't think I'll get to vote for him. Any websites that clarify this? I am a lost soul in this state.

6. OhioBlues and ALL OH progressives!
FIRST - I urge ALL Ohioans to get cracking and sign two important petition initiatives for change in State government. One is "Reform Ohio Now," a group of three proposed constitutional ballot issues to be on the November ballot. Go to <www.reformohionow.org> for the scoop.
The other is "Educate Ohio," relating to public school funding. Goggle
the title, there may be a web presence. Very little time left to submit
these. PLEASE PARTICIPATE!

SECOND - The special election to replace Portman is TWO WEEKS AWAY, AUGUST 2...

Congressional District two - CD-2 - runs from the the western half of
Scioto Cty (incl. Portsmouth,) all of Pike Cty (N of Scioto) than along the Ohio R west...all of Adams, Brown, Clermont, southern half of Warren, and eastern third of Hamilton. CD-2 (and 1) were gerrymandered after the 1990 census. Includes Sharonville, Loveland, Blue Ash and then more or less south on I-71 to downtown.

A retired State senator here told a friend that they drew the line such
that a "Dem would never win CD-2." A real democratic ideal, right? Bastards! Delay's TX exploit is only the most-publicized of these tricks. These've resulted in what, only about 7% of the House races are considered competitive?

Although large in area, the population east of Clermont is sparsely
settled, and the District has about 630K pop., about average size.
Even if you're in CD-1, can you put in some time to help out this last two weeks before Aug 2. Call 735-4310 (Batavia, campaign HQ) or Dem Party HQ (421-0495) 615 Main St. downtown.
Check Paul Hackett's website <www.hackettforcongress.com>
THANKS for any and all kinds of help!

CD-1 (Chabot) is a heavily conservative, Catholic side of the county.
He plays to the "no choice" anti-abortion crowd there. These are the
one-issue voters. The lies, war, economy, ad infinitum mean nothing
to these kool-aid drinkers. Sad state of citizen knowledge. HTH

9. I'll make a donation
Jean Schmidt is really bad news. Did you know she even launched a smear campaign against breast cancer survivors in Ohio who wanted a pink ribbon license plate, saying the survivors were trying to use the money to help women pay for abortions?

She's nutz.

Is the ODP and the Dem Congressional Caucus behind Hackett? Are they helping him? This could be an excellent opportunity to prove how disenchanted voters have become with R's in Ohio.

3. I think that it is a good idea
for you to run in the election. If I knew a way how to do it I would help you to run your campaign. I don't have much political experience, but I believe in the Constitution and Bill of Rights, "by the people, for the people". It is time for a change in Ohio. I agree with you 100% that Chabot must go. :kick: :patriot:

11. Unfortunately the wildly popular former mayor of Cincinnati Roxanne Qualls
couldn't beat him.

10. Wait until after the Cincinnati mayoral election...
I suspect that one or more of the unsuccessful Democrats in that race will be thinking seriously about challenging Chabot.

12. "to the point that if I could figure out a way, I'd run myself" - DO IT!!!
RUN! Please! Even if you only get 30-40% of the vote, it will send a message to Chabot that he can't take you for granted any more. Just telling people you are a DUer would give you an inborn base of support.

I strongly encourage you to run, if not next year than in '08!
