11 years and counting
In 1994, the Ohio Supreme Court decided that the funding formulas for Ohio schools was unconstitutional.

In all this time, most of the state's offices went to Repukes. The last Dem US Senator resigned to take a flight on the shuttle (John Glenn).

I am not sure how long the State House and State Senate were under Repug control, but the standard rhetoric is that no Republican has won the Presidency without carrying Ohio (since 1940?), and very few Dems won Ohio. So it seems that Ohio has been long Red.

Yet there has been no resolution to the funding issue for Ohio schools.

And, the Republicans keep pointing out that they are all for "education".

Go figure.

1. to their credit
funding for schools with a weak property tax base has been increased incrementally in the last few years. (While post-secondary/college funding has decreased more-than-incrementally).

3. In other words, almost a whole generation of our kids
K-12 and the underfunded schools are still underfunded.

But please don't dis Glenn--he served long and honorably (and if I could get to go up in the shuttle, I'd do it in a heartbeat!)

4. I'm not dissing Glenn,
I would have him back in a minute . . .

and I would love to ride in the shuttle, too. Except for the part where you puke (unavoidable for those not accustomed to the food not knowing which way to go . . .). But I don't have the $10M to do it . . .
