Bogus "No-Diss Debate" between DeWine and Brown on 1100AM
The 3-6pm air "personality" Triv on WTAM 1100 in Cleveland is going to have a "No Diss Debate" (or "dog" as they call it).

However, this is yet another Faux News style debate ... Triv is ADAMANTLY anti-Democratic, and likely to be kissing Mike DeWine's ass all through the debate.

The link to the local weekly Cleveland Scene article is here (third story, even after yet another informative article about Ken Blackwell):

http://www.clevescene.com/Issues/2006-09-20/news/firstpunch.html

Now, the "terms" of the debate are that, if one candidate starts to "dog" (diss) the other candidate, or his party, the microphone will be cut.

However, nothing is said about the "moderator's" microphone getting cut ... I can see Triv cutting Sherrod Brown's microphone any time that Brown is getting in good points - "Well, we have seen corruption" (mic cuts out, missing "in this state...")

Triv is rabidly (appropriate for the "dawg pound" mentality of the grossly obese Republiconvict supporter) anti-Democrat, constantly claiming that the Democratic party is the one aiding the terrorists, and that Bush is God.

2. Not sure what you mean ... I get the feeling that Triv will be trigger-
happy when Brown is speaking vaguely about corruption, while DeWine gets a free pass from a sleeping Triv while nearly screaming Brown's name and "The Evil Democrats" ...

5. I try not to listen to the station, but every time I have to try to check
on the traffic, i can't stand to listen to him for more than 30 seconds because he immediately puts in a dig at Dems.

I would say it's sometime after 3pm today, from what the article said.

I'm sure it will be available on download later (especially if Triv allows DeWine to break the rules and makes sure that the demarkation line is enforced on Brown ...)

3. WTAM ???
WTAM 1100, sorry I can't receive that station. My wife tells me it's because the dial is rusted onto
WTOA 1250 in Akron and the FM is stuck on some old fart that pretends to be a demo but seems to hate everyone.

6. IT'S STARTING NOW--right at 3
sounds like he's going to stick to his rules, plus there's a silent booth so "they can't play off each other; they have to stand on their own beliefs."

7. DeWine itemized all the projects he's worked on with Dems
like a reverse "dont link me to those corrupt R's." Kind of a smart strategy, really, but funny, too.

8. anymore feedback on the "debate"?
I'm curious. I didn't see that there was one until just now. I can't stand to listen to Trivisano - he sounds like he's eating all the time. His voice is all garbled and bitchy... even in non-political aspects - when he's talking about the Browns or the Indians he's just always bitching about something. I've never heard him sound even close to intelligent. You could put any blow hard in his place and they wouldn't miss a beat.

10. Okay, I tuned in to see if it was on ... (a bit of a surprise here)
and, of course, the moment I tuned in, they were talking, leading up to "starting" the debate.

Came in where DeWine was talking about why ads are so negative. Then Triv asks Brown the same thing, and Brown says "Well, when there's a commercial where the WTC is on fire, an image that was changed, mind you ..." (not exact wording, but you get the idea)

and the place erupts like "Whoa, there goes the debate!" ... but they said that they would return to actually start the debate.

Curious, I stayed tuned in, until I got to where I had to go to pick up dinner.

I was a bit surprised ... DeWine, of course, being in friendly territory, was at ease. Brown got a few digs in at Triv, but it was good natured - as was the jabs from Triv to Brown.

Then the debate started.

Now, both sides can claim that the other bent the rules a bit ... but I liked the setup ... Triv asked the same questions of both ... (this was one of the few times that I could stomach listening to Triv for more than two minutes ... wow ...)

I guess that, since the questions came from the callers, and were only handed to Triv by the screeners, they were able to keep out the stupid usual listeners ... I didn't hear any questions that began with the usual "mega-ditto" type of "DeWine is great, Brown is worse than Satan" crap that the callers usually resort to ...

There were times when boths sides ran a bit over the time limit, but there were also times that they both got their points in with a bit of time to spare.

And, as promised, (from what i heard), nobody broke the rules. There were some references which could be taken as "veiled", but not enough to get bleeped (for lack of a better term).

I think that Brown managed to get the message out, if anybody was listening ... when you consider that the only time that WTAM is not pure RW propaganda is when the Indians, Cavs, or Browns are on, or on Saturday morning when Bob Becker is on ... and just his listeners are the kool-aide drinkers ... B.B. is moderate/conservative/intelligent ...

I will try to find the link to the debate ... they said that it would be on WTAM's page, but there was also a more "political" type with a web site which give ALL the candidates a chance, which was going to link the audio of the debate.

Now, to see if it really will be unadulterated ...

11. Forgot to mention - heard one flat-out LIE by DeWine ...
When they both were asked about universal health care ...

DeWine claimed that, when Bill (and Hillary) Clinton proposed it, "The American People" rejected it ...

That is a lie ... the health-care industry killed it ... and now there are even "conservative" voters who are bitching that "Clinton didn't push it hard enough!"

12. Go Brown!
We need Ohio badly. Let's all make sure it happens.

On another note Everyone:
,

Please write your House of Representative and Senator for your state. Please let them know how serious the Torture bill is. Let them know we do not want it to pass, and we will keep it in mind when we go to the polls in November. Think of how our soldiers will be treated in future wars. It is bad enough they are fighting a war they should not be in now.
