OK. Shall we have an Ohio DU meet-up?
I've been to two. The first was in Indiana (Will Pitt was speaking and I drove out despite a seriously painful mountain-biking accident), and the second was in Chicago (those Chicagoans seriously kick ass, lemme tell ya).

I seem to remember an Ohio gathering taking place last year, but I was sadly unable to attend.

There are lots of us here, and I'd like to get together to talk politics, discuss strategies, drink beer, and get to know some like-thinking people.

What say you, Ohio Dems? Let's have some fun.

1. They had a couple in Columbus, near OSU.
I didn't make it over there for either of them. I'll say it again, as I said then -- I'd love to do it, but it seems like something always blows up, burns down, falls over or sinks into the swamp.

Hey, does your band have an e-mail list or a web site? I know you play in Dayton sometimes, Mr. Nownow and I would probably come see you if we knew where you were playing.

2. I was there
DUer Sasquatch organized the first and second Ohio meetings in Columbus. The DUers who attended, developed the meetings into a campaign to fight DIEBOLD's voting machines. They've been posting at Bev Harris' website:blackboxvoting.org

Unfortunately, I don't know if the group I met with is still active. Because I live and work in Akron, I wasn't able to make the meetings after they shifted to Wednesday nights to coincide with the national meetup schedule. So I lost touch with them. But maybe some of the attendees will see this thread and decide to make themselves known? If the meetings ever move back to the weekends, I would gladly attend.

3. I was there too
I have been mainly volunteering for Kerry, so I didn't even know that the group started focusing on BBV. If there a gathering on a weekend, I'll definitely attend.

4. I'd be happy to attend.
But someone would have to buy me beer. And, if it's near OSU, we probably should not have it around Halloween or any other holidays, weekends, or days that end with 'y'. It can get violent, so I've heard.

5. I'd love to
I'd also love it to be in Northeast Ohio, but I'm a lazy slug. Columbus is only like 3 hours away from everywhere else in the state, right? Seems the obvious choice.

7. Sure...
just come up with a time and place. As long as there's enough advance notice, I would like to come.

8. So...What? Columbus or someplace close?
Sundays work best for me, and I'd be willing to give a few Dayton-area DUers a ride...

To be honest, I'm sure that politics and election strategies will be discussed, and I'd like that. That said, I'm just as interested in meeting some of you guys over a few beers, getting to know each other and bullshitting for a while. I know it sounds superficial when I put it that way, but I speak from experience: enjoying the company of like-minded people is invigorating to say the least.

Let's do this, people. It'll be fun!

9. Sounds good
If it's not to far from Columbus and on the weekend I'm in. My week nights are usually taken, but yeah, let's do this.

10. Columbus, as a venue, makes the most sense to me.

The capitol is within driving distance for most Ohio DUers. Of course, Cincinnati, and especially Cleveland, would be MUCH more fun. }(

12. I was at the one in Columbus.
I'm in Cincinnati but Columbus would work for me as well.

Being a liberal in Cincinnati is kind of grim!

14. Couldn't make it last time
...but holding it at the Varsity Club (my former employer) was my suggestion. Let's try it again -- pick a Saturday that's an AWAY game for Ohio State or you won't be able to park within five miles of the place. Make it early in the year, because later on most of us will be canvassing on the weekends.

15. Hey gang, how about morphing it into a Fingerhut activist meeting
Distribute some bumperstickers, invite a Fingerhut staffer, or do it when the Ohio Senate is in session and you can ask a staffer to attend.

I think that the session is about to end for the year, though.

16. Fingerhut Meetups
The Fingerhut Meetups are already active and happening across the state. Cleveland, Columbus and Toledo had very good ones last month and we expect the rest of the state to come on board this month. Check it out at http://fingerhutforsenate.meetup.com

18. New Blood!
Thanks for the welcome. I'm the new Statewide Volunteer Coordinator for Fingerhut and decided to check out the blogs to see what the word on the street was on a number of things. This seems like a great group. Hoping to pick up some valuable info and contacts!

Thanks for saying "Hello"
