Wake up Kerry campaign
Things aren't going well here in Ohio and its starting to get late in the game. I know you've been trying, but it doesn't seem to be working, time to change strategies and start going after women and independent voters.

1. We're Trying, Demgirl, We Really Are.
Here in Montgomery Co. we're canvassing neighborhoods and looking for those independents and undecided voters; DU poster gemdem is directly involved in this project.

We've started an Ohio Women for Kerry group and had our second meeting last night. We'll focus on issues at the next meeting.

We've begun phone banking and will continue calls until election day.

Do you have some suggestions for us? We're open to any ideas you may have, because we're all in this together.

3. This Might Put It In Perspective

The poll doesn't tell us anything we don't already know, or give us any new advice on what we are already doing.

What "doesn't seem to be working"?

4. Have to disagree
and I'm backing it with information gleaned from the hundreds of voters that I've talked with personally. Our office is busy all day long with people coming in for bumperstickers and signs. The lights are out at the GOP headquarters.

5. Polls Don't Tell Everything
Which is why you need to be out there among the people. I'm sure that if you took a phone poll of my *entire* township, you'd probably be tempted to write it off for Bush. But if you get out and talk to people, you may find a totally different story. My husband (gemdem) is a precinct captain whose been going out every weekend. In our precinct, Kerry has about a 10% lead over Bush. That is huge down here, folks.

As I said -- I don't understand exactly what isn't "working." We are registering new voters. We are making good contact with both Kerry supporters and undecideds. There could be much worse things than being in a statistical dead heat right now, and nobody was expecting Kerry to get much of a bounce from Boston anyway. And we weren't exactly expecting a cakewalk this fall, either.

7. Both
I was just seconding your observations about how people ARE interested and DO want to become involved in the campaign. I take that to be a better barometer of how things are going rather than a poll.

Sorry for any confusion.

8. I second that.
Bush isn't going to win Ohio.

9. OK, that settles it. Let's all quit trying -- we'll lose.
Just turn off your computers when I count to TEN, then turn off the lights and pull the covers over your heads for the next four years.

Everyone ready?

10. ??????
Uh....unless I'm missing something, I don't think most of us here are giving up...

Nobody said winning Ohio would be easy, but I really do think we have a chance.

11. Not giving up, AOD? Me Either!
Please forgive my feeble attempt at sarcasm.

And, yes, we DO have a chance of winning Ohio -- a good one.

Let's go get 'em!
