Protesters at the Underground Railroad Freedom Center?
I was at the big National Underground Railroad Freedom Center and Museum opening gala, with celebrities and politicians galore last night. There was a group of mostly black protesters chanting mostly unintelligable things and waving mostly unreadable signs (too far away from me to read, and too much background noise to hear) Does anybody know what they would be upset about? I'm baffled? I asked one of the Police Officers keeping an eye on them what they were upset about, and he said "Who knows? They're always peaceful, even if they are obnoxious."

1. Where were you, Chicago?
I know they were supposed to have opened a UGRR Freedom Center and Museum in Cinci. Google 'Timothy Thomas' and Cincinnati and see what you come up with -- there's been a lot of tension between the City of Cincinnati, Cincinnati police and downtown minorities for several years now. May have had to do with that.

2. But why Protest this place?
I doesn't make sense. I'm quite familiar with the Timothy Thomas thing. He brought it upon himself. Don't run from the cops, and if you do, definitely don't have your hand down your pants. It was surely a good shoot. (Good shoot, in police and armed citizen parlance means "legal and justified").

3. I don't want to get into the whole Thomas thing.
Just saying that was probably what the protest was about.

4. I got my photos back, I took a pic of them.
Under a mag. glass, it appears that two signs are about Xerox. WTF?

5. My Guess
There have been a couple of black ministerial-based groups that have formed very recently in support of Bush. (Yep, you read it right, folks.) One minister who heads a group is from Dayton. It could have been one of those organizations protesting.

6. Doubtful, the event was well attended by Republicans.
Republican politicians seemed to outnumber Dems by a wide margin. Additionally, local Republican congresscritters (local delegation is pretty much all rep.) were the ones to secure funding for the place from the feds.

It's concerning a discrimination suit filed against Xerox. Xerox made a hefty donation to the Underground Railroad.

EDIT: Link did not post correctly; make sure you type in all of it to get to where you need to be.
