WUNC replacing The Connection with Diane Rehm

If you listen to WUNC during the day and didn't know it, WBUR cancelled The Connection w/ Dick Gordon. The last show was Friday. Inexplicable, because I really like Dick Gordon. :grr:

He's knowledgable, has a great variety of topics and keeps the discussion on track. Most of all, I like the way he has treated callers, treating them with the same respect as the guests and for a lot of them, sussing out what they were trying to say.

Any way, in place of Dick Gordon, the good news is we are getting The Diane Rehm Show.

tea and take a bite from a fresh crumpet. You can hear her choke and wheeze while defending her Repug or conservative guest when she gets a caller that takes them to task or listen to her when she talks about a book no one has read.

AA is good, but I can't listen to politics all day, much as I'm involved in it. Everybody needs a break to fight another day.

even better when Christopher Lydon hosted it in the 90s (i lived in boston).

i agree with the other poster, tho, diane sucks. turn to AAR. listen to stephanie miller.

7. I haven't heard Diane before so I didn't know

I work in corp america and I'm not comfortable listening to overtly politcal stuff at work. So NPR kinda fills that bill.

Although I will say the bunch I work with now are fairly liberal, it's the nature of the work we do.

11. Amen! She nearly caused my death

Rehm nearly got me killed, while driving to Raleigh
the other day....

She nearly made me fall asleep at the wheel!

It makes you wonder why bother to fight for NPR, when it is so
darn boring!

Yikes! She sounds like she is reading a bed-time story to me.
Sorry if you like her, she probably is quite nice, but good grief,
how about some inflection in that voice!

9. I was disappointed too.

When I heard The Connection was cancelled. I liked Dick Gordon a lot.

I have only heard a couple of Diane Rehm shows, she obviously is getting older, maybe has a breathing or aphasic problem...but i haven't seen any reason to dislike her yet. WUNC had no choise but to pick up some new show since WBUR isn't producing the Connection anyway. I'm willing to give her show a chance.

10. Lost "On Point" in the evenings, too. It is now on in the time period...

The Connection has, but WUNC chose not to fill it with that. I would say On Point was the best of all three.

I am not impressed with Diane Rehm, too much. She is o.k.
