Former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Rep. Scott GarrettU.S. Rep Scott Garrett, (R-5th Dist.) has been endorsed today by former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Garrett, 49, a three-term representative from Wantage, Sussex County, is being challenged by Democrat Dennis Shulman, 58, a psychologist and rabbi from Demarest, Bergen County.

Last week, Shulman was endorsed by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who was elected as a Republican but has switched to being an independent. Bloomberg cited gun control as a top issue for his endorsement of Shulman.

Giuliani, a Republican, cited the "fiscal conservatism" of Garrett, who is known as New Jersey's most conservative member of Congress, as the reason for his endorsement, according to a statement released by Garrett's campaign.
