I'm a past NYer (Western NY). I was shocked to find out many of the farmers in the WNY area of the state lost their farms. Now many of the Amish run them.

My old friend from HS lost his father's business but managed to hang onto his land. One of the grandsons has gone back to dairy farming.

My friend drives around the Amish livestock for a living today.

That area had lots of wealthy and prosperous farmers. Reagan put them out of business for CA and then Bush family for Mexico. They have destroyed a lot of lives. I think it was diberate under the Republican governor.

How is that new governor doing for the state? I know he couldn't get elected so that back hand way of becoming governor on the coat tails of the elected one (who wanted reforms) was strange business to me.

I am returning to my high school for my 50th reunion in July. I know I will find things much changed. The Neo Cons have ruined the great state of NY let alone the country. It was a great farm state in the past.
