Bill & Hil's neighbors shot (3 houses away)
Edited on Mon Nov-20-06 07:05 PM by RamboLiberal

A disgraced lawyer and his wife, who live three doors away from Bill and Hillary Clinton in Chappaqua, were shot and wounded in a mysterious incident, cops said yesterday.

Carlos Perez-Olivo, 58, told doctors he and wife, Peggy, 55, were waylaid by a gunman as they drove home to their two-story Colonial home on leafy Old House Lane in Westchester County late Saturday.

Bleeding from a stomach wound, Carlos Perez-Olivo managed to drive his critically wounded wife to Northern Westchester Medical Center in Mount Kisco, but gave authorities only a sketchy account of what happened.

Cops were puzzled over what might have sparked an attack on the disbarred attorney, who has a string of unhappy clients, and his schoolteacher spouse.

<snip>

Just two houses stand between their home and the Dutch Colonial that the Clintons bought for $1.7 million in 1999.

Ballsy criminals with all the Secret Service around the neighborhood.

23. Not really. Guess you never read Vonnegut?
When you think about it, even run-of-the-mill fiction is really, really strange.

17. What was the name of that guy in Boston whose pregnant wife "got shot"
as they drove in the car to or from the hospital, and he said it was some ghetto criminal who came up to the car, but it was really HE who had shot her?

Charles Stuart?

8. "disbarred attorney with a string of unhappy clients"
Yeah, I'm guessing it's probably not THAT mysterious. Also guessing the shooters (unhappy clients?) had NO IDEA the Clintons live three doors down.

10. Where was the Secret Service? In 1981, I lived next door to
Ronald Reagan's daughter, Patti Davis, in Santa Monica, in an area of apartment houses and small condos. If you sneezed the wrong way, the Secret Service, the Santa Monica police, etc. were there in seconds.

11. I didn't realize till I rented The Sentinel that Bill Clinton will lose
his protection after 10 years out of office(in director's comments in movie). Scary. Might be good if Hillary did get elected president.

Wonder if the law will be changed back for Bunnypants - with all the people he's pissed off I would not want to be him after 10 years out of office.

former Presidents, their spouses for their lifetimes, except when the spouse re-marries. In 1997, Congressional legislation became effective limiting Secret Service protection to former Presidents for a period of not more than 10 years from the date the former President leaves office.

14. It doesn't apply to them
Was this another Repuke's revenge on Clinton? Not wanting to spend money on him. Well it looks like it will bite them in the ass.

Personally in this crazy world I'd prefer all ex-Presidents get this lifelong courtesy including Smirk. I seriously hope this is rethought before 2011.

15. agreed - plus, I think Bush needs the adult supervision!
And also the fact that I really do not want to see any more news stories about him once he leaves office (even of the "George W. Bush causes altercation with wheelchair-bound Iraq War veteran in local Wal-Mart, former President booed and hissed loudly by other customers" variety).

Once his parents pass away, I don't know who would be able to keep an eye on him 24-7. He'd be like a toddler ... take your eye off him for one second, and all kinds of chaos could result. (Not fair to make Laura be his lifelong chaperone ... she's already put in her time looking after their kids, and she shouldn't have to keep her husband out of trouble to boot.)

20. Wife has died and update details - scary and weird
A woman who lives on the same cul-de-sac as former President Clinton died Monday after a mysterious shooting on an isolated road that left her lawyer husband wounded, authorities said.

Sgt. Marc Simmons, a detective, said 55-year-old Peggy Perez-Olivo died about 3 p.m. at a hospital. He said there are still no arrests.

She was shot in the head, and her 58-year-old husband was shot in the abdomen late Saturday, police said.

The couple — he a recently disbarred criminal defense lawyer, she a teacher's assistant — were driving to their Chappaqua home from Manhattan when they were shot, New Castle Town Police said. According to police, the couple was on a desolate part of Route 100 when a car cut in front of their sport utility vehicle and forced them off the road around 11 p.m.

A man with a gun got out and entered the SUV through a back door, and Carlos Perez-Olivo fought with him, police said. They said they had not been able to identify any suspects or determine a motive.

27. My ex's brother and his wife lived 5 minutes from Clinton's home, and
they took me to see it. It's just a very ordinary but pretty cul-de-sac. The Clinton's home and property startled me. The house is almost on the street and it too was pretty but ordinary.

29. Remote relationship to Clinton
Will he ever escape media attention of this type? There is probably no place this man can live in peace. Considering the Al D'Amato vendetta of his presidential years and the time and money spent on a congressional trial that was a family matter, I think Clinton will get fed up one day and leave public service. The shooting on his street is no different than a shooting on any street in New York. They happen all the time, most being domestic matters and the neighbors do not get mentioned in the news. Media is desperate for conspiracy. Since Watergate conspiracy is a good thing for the media. I have been voting quite a few years and do not remember the Republican inspired hatred of the Clinton years in past contests, ongoing intense and widespread hatred.
