Pataki for pres? Is he on crack?
I almost feel bad for George. He actully thinks he has a shot at the White House? I can imagine no reason for Republicans to nominate a wishy-washy, fake Liberal, fake Conservative, unpopular Govonor with no hope of winning his home state. On the other hand I would love to see him be nominated, I seriously think that a strong Democratic ticket could sweep the EC aginst Pataki.

4. Due to our lazy press in NY,
Pataki got elected and re-elected governor. Now he sees that ALL of msm is lazy, he thinks he's got a good shot.

5. he can play the 9/11 card over and over and over again
but it still won't change the fact that he's nothing more than stuffed-shirt former mayor of a minor upstate city (no offense to residents of Peekskill) who floated into the office thanks to Sen. Pothole's political connections.....

by the way, look at his official bio at http://www.state.ny.us/governor/gep.htm - it describes him as "New York State’s first Republican-Conservative chief executive..."...anyone think that was changed in preparation for a national run??? :puke:

12. Peekskill is really in the dumps
I live about a half hour away from Peekskill, and that town is not in good shape at all. A lot of poverty and poor schools. BTW I don't really consider it upstate. I mean it's in Westchester Country, but I guess upstate is different things to different people.

13. Living in the Hudson Valley,
and having lived on Long Island and Staten Island in a previous life, I'll echo your thoughts that Peekskill is not "upstate." In fact, I'd bet nothing in the Hudson Valley is considered upstate by people who do, in fact, live upstate :)

10. The political analysis
on the news here (Albany) came to the conclusion that he really wasn't going for the Presidency since he was far too liberal for that in the Republican party but that he was positioning himself to balance a ticket as vp.

So his ambition is to be vp? He would be so torn up by those primaries they would just eat him alive in the South. If he moves more to the right Republican NYers wouldn't even vote for their governor of 12 yrs. He should just quit while he's ahead.

11. There is no way he'll be on the ticket
even if he plays the 911 card. The fundies would never accept him, and they are the key to getting on the ticket, since they more or less control the party nowadays.

14. I don't know. He's shown himself to be such a great puppet. No one could
have danced as well when Alfonse pulled the strings. Looking at Reagan and the Bushes, that seems to be the major requirement to be considered a good repuke candidate. If they dress up an asswipe like GW to fool enough people into thinking he looks like he's got leadership qualities, I bet they could do it for Pataki!

15. NY Post already started working him over - page one today
http://www.nypost.com/news/regionalnews/51569.htm

Any GOP candidate who doesn't realize BFEE calls the shots on that one is almost as dumb as any dem candidate who insists we lost the past two elections.
