New Hempstead Village mayor trounced GOP
Likening himself to the biblical underdog David, Wayne Hall yesterday was preparing to take the reins from James Garner, the four-term incumbent mayor of Hempstead Village.
With his call for reform and transparency in government, Hall, 57, a Democrat and a Hempstead Village trustee, trounced the GOP's Garner in Tuesday's election, taking 45% of the vote to the incumbent's 30%.

"I think the mayor didn't take me seriously," Hall said. "But the momentum kicked in the last three weeks. ...I feel like David."

Hall defeated not only Garner, who had held the office for 16 years, but three other challengers as well.

2. That's it, that's our wedge
transparency in government. EVERYONE knows about the Bush governments secrecy, and hates it. It's about the government being responsible to you the citizen.
