Any Western NYers interested in having a MeetUp?
Near Rochester or someplace fairly easy for Roch. and Buffalo people to get to?

Ha, I have no organizing skills, but I'm gonna take a risk here! LOL

3. I know there are a few western types that drop by... trick is just gonna
be to keep it kicked over a few weeks.

I'd suggest my house, but I fear its really out of the way for most. East Aurora. Its nice and we can host small groups... 10 or so.

9. yep. Well wait and see what happens!
I need to get moving along right now, but might be a good idea to post this in GD or the Lounge? Ya think? I get the impression this forum isn't very heavily trafficked.

12. OK, 4 People--Time to Pick a Location??
I'm thinking in Rochester. Roch is an hour (approx) drive for me and for Buffalo people....looks like two folks from around there.

Of course, there is Border's Bookstore, a nice Democratic venue, near the 390 exit. Coffee and eats.

Or would beer be preferable?
I wouldn't mind yakking it up with a good beer myself (has to be a bar with a good beer list, no Bud or Coors for me!!! ;) )

I don't have a particualr bar in mind; Anyone have a favorite bar?

17. sounds interesting
I haven't visited DU in awhile. If you guys meet up, make sure to post it here. I work weird hours but I might be able to drop by if the time is right. I'm in Wyoming so East Aurora or Roch. is easy for me. Anyway, Hi from Western NY.

18. OK FOLKS How about NEXT SAT?
I'm thinking early evening, at a Starbucks (they donate to Dems!!)

I know of a couple Starbucks in Rochester.

I was offline again with computer probs...

Anyway, I just thought the best thing to do would just be announce a plan and see if it works for most people.

21. Me!
I live in Roc, myself, so Rochester's pretty easy for me! Currently recovering from foot surgery so can't get out much for a couple more weeks, but count me in after that.

Funny that people mention Brushwood. I may be dancing at O.U.R. fest (http://www.ourmusicfest.com)for the first time this year--I've lived here 5 years now and only this year learned about the place. Used to be interested in Wicca in a big way, so may check out Sirius Rising as well.

26. My computer has been down
for the millionth time...sheesh. Satelite is great as long as the weather's clear and the trees aren't in the way. :eyes:

actually, it seems to be better for my state of mind, since my righteous outrage and agita every day wasn't helping anything--so I'm deciding to come to DU less.

But, April 9 sounds good to me. Any preferences as to where? I'm not too familiar with the bars.

24. FreeBuffalo.org
We have an active and exciting movement happening in and around the Buffalo area so if you are looking for a group to meet up with you might want to check out the FreeBuffalo movement and the PrimaryChallenge. Both have been meeting together and have had two successful meetings so far. The next one will be in Buffalo but the date and time have not been announced yet. Check out the FreeBuffalo.org forum to get the latest.

29. those ARE cool-aid conventions (Frist Like)
Read This:
http://buffalobeast.com/73/feature3.htm
snip .... Opening Prayer – Rev. Kenneth Munson

Then the candidates would be introduced, and the organization’s president would speak, followed by another "closing prayer."

Maybe I’m not a typical Buffalonian, but I could scarcely believe my eyes. Sure enough, when things got underway, everybody stood, faced the flag on the left side of the stage, and recited the pledge of allegiance. I stood and said nothing, the same way I’ve been doing since about the fourth grade. Suddenly I felt like I was back there again.

Then the real fun started. The white-haired Reverend Munson got up and leaned way too close to the microphone. His voice cracked and boomed through the room, sending visible shudders through the sparse audience. I thought I could handle a benign "let us work together to save this broke-ass county" type of prayer, but it was not to be. Instead, Munson beseeched God to give us "an educational system which incorporates our moral and spiritual values"—think school prayer—and attacked "the culture of death which surrounds us." ....

I posted the link so the unaware wouldn't buy into what the buffaloFREEP was trying to push here.
