More proof of 'environment be damned' tactics
Well, another big donor gets a payback. Hope there is something you can do before it is too late. Hopefully, this will get mentioned in the dem speeches this weekend.

SANTA FE, N.M. (Reuters) - A Texas energy company may get rights to drill in a pristine swathe of a New Mexico national forest after a White House task force intervened on its behalf, a move that has become a hot issue in the battleground state before next week's presidential election.

According to documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act, Houston-based oil company El Paso Corp., a large donor to Republican campaigns and candidates, asked the White House's energy task force in 2003 to intervene on its behalf with the Forest Service.

1. Didn't El Paso have a submarine problem?
Didn't some of its people take a joyride on government equipment and kill a bunch of Japanese people?

Boy, four years and all they got was one lousy ride and a national forest. They're sure patient.

2. Seems familiar
Sounds just like the proposals to drill on the Rock Mountain front up here in Montana. They plan to drill in places like this to establish the fact that they can get away with anything. Just another might-makes-right policy on behalf of ol' shrub.
