Who has the best green chili cheeseburgers in New Mexico?
I've heard it said that it's the Owl Bar in San Antonio. Are their GCCs all they're cracked up to be? Are there others that are better?

1. Owl Cafe has an excellent one
Any of the Blake's Lotta Burger will do.

There used to be a Bar across Central from UNM that had an outstanding GCCB... Fat Chance Bar and Grille I think.

God, now I am craving one.

2. They were the best last time I had one--but that was
a long time ago (1989, maybe?)

I can tell you that the best green chile stew in New Mexico is to be found at the Frontier Restaurant here in Burque...does that help? ;-)

Love yer RR gif, BTW.

3. Ahh, The Frontier Resturant...
I am glad you brought that up. The Huevos Rancheros are the best and those Cinnamon rolls are to die for.

Their GC stew is good but mine is better, though I will admit I based it on their's.

4. Agree about the huevos rancheros--but would you believe
I've never had one of their cinnamon rolls? Can't handle that much sweet that early...

5. Must try one
They are huge and not overly sweet. My wife and I used to split one on Saturday mornings there.

I would kill to know how they make that Ranchero sauce they put out in those tacky black kettles.

a few years back?

How are things going there?

I remember a real cool DA getting elected there - a woman, a dem I think, how is she doing?

7. Yes, across from UNM.
Open 24/7. They have a funky little machine that makes wonderful soft flour tortillas that you can buy to go.

The people that own it also have a couple of fried chicken takeouts that also sell the tortillas, the best carne adovada burritos and some really good smoked pork ribs.

8. Plus the same green chile stew, of course, and the best breakfast burritos
on the planet--especially the #9.

Golden Pride: there's one on Lomas just east of University, and another here on west Central.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna have to take a quick run down the hill. It was the thought of the #9 what done it...

15. Hiya, LoL! I'm in Burque, too!
I'm not big on green chile stew, but the Frontier serves up AMAZING burritos, etc., with green chile.

12. The best for me
Was at the Firelito restaurant in El Rito
I stopped there for lunch one day and I had a real GC craving so it may not have been all that objective.

13. I've eaten there many times.
It's one of my favorite restaurants in New Mexico. I have a weekend place in Abiquiu and always try to make it up to El Rito to eat every time I'm up that way. They have some world class green chili!

16. Got a red chile monkey on your back?
You need to go to Sadie's, it is intense.

Just remembered a really interesting GC burger. Not the best but unique. Try Bob's burger on 4th street. Its different.
