1. Woo Hoo!
My husband called me at work today and said he heard Hannity make a prediction that Kerry will pick Richardson as his VP.

(I can't handle listening to that junkyard dog, personally...only in microdoses)

2. hiya' DesertedRose!
Do you think Richardson would make the best choice for VP? I'm not sure myself.

What part of the state are you in? I'm way down here in the south.

3. I'm in the South also.
I live in Las Cruces. I think Richardson would be a good choice, but I kond of like him where he is now.

Richardson would be terrific as Veep, but I SO want him to stay in the governorship here.

6. Here's a good one......
Any chance a Roswell Repub could participate? I ran a short-lived conservative board for Bartcop after the last Pres election. I don't consider myself an expert on NM politics, but have met and interviewed Richardson, Steve Pearce and Rod Adair.

???

7. Hi worst!
I've also met Richardson and Pearce, and found them to be very agreeable in person. And, Roswell is one of my favorite places in New Mexico!

Regarding your question, here's what the DU rules state:

WHO IS WELCOME ON DEMOCRATIC UNDERGROUND, AND WHO IS NOT

We welcome Democrats of all stripes, along with other progressives who will work with us to achieve our shared goals.

This is a "big tent" message board. We welcome a wide range of progressive opinion. You will likely encounter many points of view here that you disagree with.

We ban conservative disruptors who are opposed to the broad goals of this website. If you think overall that George W. Bush is doing a swell job, or if you wish to see Republicans win, or if you are generally supportive of conservative ideals, please do not register to post, as you will likely be banned.

8. Thanks for the response, RR.
I'll probably just check in and read often. BTW, I don't think Richardson wants VP this year. He has his eye on POTUS '08.

9. I agree with you about Richardson. It's pretty obvious to me
that he means it when he says--promises, actually--that he's going to serve out his full term as guv.

Besides, I think Kerry'd be making a huge mistake to choose anyone but Wes Clark, especially given that JK regularly outpolls Dubya on domestic issues, but the reverse is true when it comes to national security and foreign affairs.

11. I live in Abiquiu
about 4 months out of each year, the other 8 months in the south, near the border with Mexico. To tell the truth, I like the north better. I go into Espanola all the time when I'm up there. That's a really beautiful part of the state.

:hi:

13. LOL - you're right!
I'm on Cybermesa, which at one time was called Roadrunner, until they got sued and had to give the name up to the big-time Roadrunner guys. That was several years ago.

I bet you're right about running into each other. I've been to Espanola zillions of times.

14. Greetings NM DUers
I am going to a fund raising dinner tomorrow night for Richardson, in Grants. I am interested to see if he will throw punches at Bush. I know Bill, and I like him, but I think he may have too much baggage for the VP spot.

BTW, what do you think our chances are of getting Democrats to replace Dominici and Heather the mouse?

18. Yea, new toy!
Bienvenidos!
I’m in Santa Fe, been in NM since ‘74- do I qualify for Native yet?

Mainly looking to make connections with other NM Demo/ progressive folks- to discuss, trade opinions on local & national political issues, share links to other sites & organizations we may find useful. My primary concerns lately are ways to support ABB (Anybody But Bush- well almost anybody), electronic voting machines, issues relating to Iraq, future role of US in world. Always interested to hear of events & news in other parts of NM…

Here’s a few links I’ve found useful-

frequent news of NM events & issues-
swm-d -- Committee to Stop the War Machine unmoderated list for open discussion
About swm-d
When President Dwight Eisenhower left office he said our country was in danger of being taken over by a rogue military-industrial-academic complex which could destroy our democracy and world peace. It appears he was correct. So, we Americans have a special responsibility to expose and dismantle the war machine which works for global corporations and not for us. The funds we need for decent paying jobs, universal health care, quality education, help for the poor, alternative energy sources, and our local economy are being used to build an empire-class war machine which is fascist in character with its internal repression through the Patriot and Homeland Security Acts.

20. Hey p4johann, welcome to DU and the NM forum!
If you've been here since '74, you're definitely a native New Mexican. I've just been here since '97, although I've been visiting the state much longer. Welcome, and don't be shy about posting here, lots of nice folks from New Mexico are members of DU.

23. Last time I lived in Santa Fe was in 1974
I was born at St Vincents in 1953 & grew up in Santa Fe. The last time I actually lived there was the summer of 1974. I lived on Garfield Street in a big three room apartment that went for $120 a month with all utilities paid. I bet the stores that have taken over that area don't pay anything close to that these day.
