Top 3 Counties For Bush In New Jersey
Sussex: 64.1%
Warren: 61.0%
Ocean: 60.2%

You know what this tells me

1) That rural people truly are misguided
2) Ocean County is more of a freeper county than I fought, hell, Kerry did better in Hunterdon, Morris, and Somerset counties

4. Gack! Even in New Jersey!?!?!
I thought the red states were the ones who predominantly had those kinds of stations. Where are all the jazz and classical stations then? Geesh.

I think everybody ought to go to satellite radio. At least the blue people could listen to Sirius Left or Air America, etc. I was just thinking about getting satellite radio because I can't get anything but stations like you mentioned above.

8. I'm pretty sure you can get...
Temple's radio station, which is pretty good (classical by day, Jazz by night) in those areas. But you think that living in the area that we are in, we could have better radio stations...but no. Air America doesn't go far out of the cities. I live in Central Jersey and I can barely get the Philly and NY feeds

3. Moved to Somerset a year ago..
and it saddens me to know that I went from a very Democratic county to one that apparently leaned Bush. :(

5. Look at my Pennsylvania map of Kerry vs. Gore performance
Edited on Sat Dec-04-04 12:15 AM by NewYorkerfromMass
It shows where Kerry improved the Dem. share of each county (not where we won) and you'll see how we did better.

And yep. There are a lot of idiots out there.

7. Ocean County is a mixed bag
Wealthy at parts of the shore. Lots of seniors. They are building senior housing developments faster in Ocean County than anywhere else in the state. Maybe even in the nation. The towns like it because it meets there Mount Laurel commitments and is not as big a strain on resources.

There are still a lot of Jersey Rednecks there. Also, a lot of military.

It's not a bad area, just uninformed. It can be swung to blue.

9. keep in mind
Sussex and Warren are not real New Jersey as most of us know it. Those counties' state reps are referred to as the "mountain men" for their ultrs-conservative (by NJ standards) views. Though, it is important to note that Warren is changing slowly but surely with the influx of new housing and people moving west from Essex, Union, etc. Most of the people who are from Warren, however, tend to be staunchly for local control, anti-tax, pro-farmer and favor zoning with larger lot sizes as opposed to the more dense town center style that is favored in other parts of the state. It is a VERY different place. Knowledge of those differences and adaptation to them will help Dems to succeed in the wild northwest. Also, new chairmen in Warren and Sussex, plus a very dedicated DFA group, are all working for the party up there.

10. Sussex received a huge influx of Brooklyn people
from about 1970 through 1985. If they're still around, they can be reclaimed with common sense.

15. How about Republicans disguised as Democrats?
That's what we have had in my town. Republicans become Democrats so they can run against other Republicans.

17. bush country
I am mortified. I live in Sussex county, where the folks are pretty nice, mostly white and retarded, as you can see by the preponderance of bush votes.

19. This is sad...
I never realized just how many dullards that there were in Ocean County, even though I moved out of Ocean to get away from the "pineys" who creeped me out, and I was born in New Jersey and lived most of my life in Ocean. Now I feel good about moving. Now the only county to live at the shore and feel comfortable in is Atlantic. Cape May is a bust too. I live in Cumberland now, and it's definitely good to be in the majority as a Democrat.

20. It's surprising, Gore would have won OC if it wasn't for Nader
And Clinton won it in 1996.
