Quinnipiac is pissing me off...
Among likely voters, Kerry led, 49% to 46%. The 3-point error margin made that a virtual tie.

..............

TRENTON - According to a poll released yesterday, President Bush and John Kerry remain in a virtual dead heat in New Jersey, a state critical to the Democratic challenger's presidential hopes.

Kerry led Bush, 49 percent to 46 percent, among likely voters in the Quinnipiac University poll, but the margin of error was about 3 percentage points in either direction. Independent candidate Ralph Nader got 2 percent of support from likely voters.

Among registered voters, Kerry leads Bush 44-42 percent, with a sampling error margin of plus or minus 3 percentage points. The poll was taken from Oct. 1-4, with 1,184 registered voters. Among that total, 819 said they were likely to vote.

The latest poll was taken after the first presidential debate, but before Tuesday night's debate between the two vice presidential candidates.

Seventy-six percent of those polled said they watched the presidential debate, and 50 percent of them said they have a more favorable opinion of Kerry after the debate, while only 7 percent said the debate caused them to have a more favorable opinion of Bush.

"While Kerry got a bump from the debate, New Jersey is still a squeaker and it's because of terrorism, a concern that favors President Bush," said Maurice Carroll, director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.

When voters were asked about who would do a better job on terrorism, Bush got 52 percent to Kerry's 38 percent.

2. I'd like specifics
All these people who rank Bush better on terrorism - what the **** has he done to warrant their opinion? I really want to know why people think Bush is stronger in this area. I sure as hell don't see it, and I bet the people in Iraq have a different opinion...

4. The Q Poll.....
Was, I believe, the first one, back in June or early July, that got the ball rolling on all the "NJ is now a swing state" crap. If you check out most of the rest of the polls, they give Kerry comfortable leads of around 8-10 points. I also recall most polls showing a close race here in 2000 almost up until the election, and as we all know, Gore won here by 16 points; of course, 2000 was almost like another era.

In response to the poster above regarding Bush on terrorism, of course anybody paying attention knows Bush is weak on terror, but the people who think otherwise aren't paying attention. They can't cite any specific reason they believe Bush is "better" on terrorism other than what Limbaugh, Hannity or Ingraham tell (lie to) them, or because of some dated notion that Republicans are the "strong" (daddy) party, however, we know that is bulls***, as well. Of course, some of the 52 percent of respondents who chose Bush in the terror question may have actually misunderstood the question, thinking they were being asked who they thought was better "at" terrorism, because if that was the question, I'd have chosen Bush as well.....
