2. Question
This will be my first primary in NJ (Have voted in every election I could since 1992 - but in NY State) . . .

Do any N Jerseyans know if I can call the Election Office in Somerset County to verify that they received my party affiliation form in time to vote in the Primary on February 5th?

I registered in NJ in August - but the DMV did NOT make clear that there was a separate form for party affiliation. Or - can I declare at the Polls on the 5th? Just in case they didn't get the form?

Sorry if I seem confused, but in NY you register and have the chance to affiliate on the exact same form. That threw me for a loop earlier this month.

3. You can declare on primary day
If you are unaffiliated on primary day you can go to your polling place and tell them you want to declare as a Democrat and vote in the primary. In Warren County we are trying to get unaffiliateds to do just that.

5. if you are voting by mail
do so as far in advance as possible, or take your ballot in yourself. Last November I was out of town for the election so sent in an absentee ballot a week beforehand. Instead of delivering it to the election office, the post office delivered it back to my home. The ballot envelope has your address printed on a label on the back and the USPS used that as the delivery address instead of the correct one printed on the front. I did not have time to resend it so gave it to someone to take in for me on election day (I have no idea if my vote was counted or not). While she was there, somebody else voting said the same thing had happened to them in a previous election. So, please, be careful if you are doing an absentee ballot or the USPS may disenfranchise you.
