Call Bob Menendez! He's wavering on the flag burning amendment!
Quick! As per HKingsley at dKos:

Bob Mendendez possibly wavering on Flag Amendment

I'm horribly sorry for posting a short diary. I'm one who bitches about such things. But screw it right now.

I just called Bob Mendendez' office, and an assistant / aide told me the following:

"Senator Mendendez voted for it before and is leaning toward it again, but he's open to hearing suggestions about why this is might be a bad idea."

Look, I know that might be a stock answer.

But I'm telling you, if it turns out to be true, and we sat on our asses without pounding him, fuck all of us if this thing passes.

I told the guy point blank, "does the Senator want to run in future primaries having been the DECIDING vote on this thing?" I also said, "he can easily defend his decision as a choice to not change the constitution for a NON-problem. It's reckless to alter our founding document so irresponsibly -- this isn't about freeing slaves, or correcting equal protection issues in the south. It's a NON-problem."... I then left my address and number.

So I implore the grassroots to get on the phone with his office.

Here's the number:

202-224-4744

I'm calling now...

On edit: Some are saying that this is pointless. I say, why not fight them all?

...he voted for it, apparently again. It should be obvious that anyone who believes enshrining a flag fetish with a Constitutional Amendment is the most "burning" issue of our era, isn't going to be voting for liberals or progressives (or minorities for that matter) under any circumstances. So, the question is: who did he think he was pandering to, and was it worth upsetting his base to do so?
