AP: Polls: Corzine's Lead Slipping in N.J.
This is not good...not good at all.

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- Three polls released within 48 hours show the New Jersey governor's race has tightened, with Republican Doug Forrester capitalizing on an ethics furor to cut Democratic Sen. Jon Corzine's double-digit lead to as little as 4 percentage points.

Corzine has ''been on the defensive for about a month,'' said Clay F. Richards, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University poll. ''He can't seem to get out from under that little cloud that has been shadowing his campaign.''

The Senate Ethics Committee is looking into a complaint that Corzine failed to report a half-million-dollar loan to a former girlfriend who heads New Jersey's largest state workers union. The senator eventually forgave the loan.

(snip)

The state is investigating whether Forrester, who owns prescription benefits and health insurance companies, made illegal campaign contributions. But the issue has not resonated with voters the way the Corzine controvery has, Richards said.

1. I'm not from New Jersey
But I remember the polls from the Presidential election saying that Bush was gaining on Kerry in New Jersey. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember it being close in the end.

3. I strongly disagree, the polls showed that the race was actually
tightening (K vs. B), so the Repukes, got a special check for adverts. I know it was a pol. play and I think it was like 150,000.

They (Repukes) made a big deal over it, on the local news.

If you buy into the nos., they can use that to manipulate the evoting.

4. I merely post this as a wake-up call....folks need to continue working
hard for this.

The Republicans are running their media blitz on three words/phrases: "ethics violations", "his millionaire friends", "he'll raise property taxes".

Some of the first is sticking and there's not too much we can do about that (aside from playing the "Yeah, but look at DeLay" game), the second is ludicrous ('cause Forrester's not in the poor house either), but may stick, and the third needs to be refuted daily.

5. i just got a beach house at the shoe
and have be listening to/screaming back at this station.
rabidly hates anything democratic
if it's got a D next to it. it's wrong.

two DJs were going on yesterday about "government out of my life" and "just leave me a couple of bucks in my wallet". like these two radio DJs had the salary of a Wawa clerk and had no money. and you know "government out of my life" would NEVER extend to reproductive rights, gay rights, or drug laws.

very scary radio

they were also lambasting Corzine- pronouncing it "cor-zeen"- as being rich. like all the republican office holders in this area aren't- bloomberg? bush? weld? santorum?

6. NJ 101.5 is crap
That is the most crappiest partisan radio station I have ever listened to. It's on good on the weekends when Big Joe Henry is on, and that is because he plays music.

Carton and Rossi lamblasts Corzine for everything that is wrong in the state. Then they call him a wuss because he doesn't want to go onto there stupid little radio show (that no one hardly listen's too anyways). But anytime Forrester is on they just about suck his c*ck right on the air.

8. Oh, they're Deeply Scary. The worst of the RW radio nutjobs in NJ...
...and they have a HUGE audience in the state.

When they're not lambasting local politicians, they're indulging the ignorant, intolerant, racist, sexist, misogynist attitudes of their listeners.

I cannot STAND to listen to them...I tuned that station out of my presets some time back.

Rich? How about Forrester? Don't bother trying to tell them over at NJ 101.5, though.

7. They did this during McGreevy vs. Shundler
The polls were very close and everyone was saying how close it was going to be. Some even had Shundler ahead a few points. But when the pols closed on election day, McGreevy was ahead by 57-42, blew Shundler right out of the water. Not even close.

9. This is my talking point to anyone who will listen, Corzine's ad
Edited on Fri Sep-30-05 01:17 AM by I_Make_Mistakes
about being voted the best place to work (Was it Goldman Sachs?, I worked for JP Morgan so firms are kinda not important to me). I say, if he provides the best working environment, he will also provide the best living environment.

It has shocked most people, because we all know the powers that be, suck. I say yeah, he made tons of money, but he also took care of the have nits! This needs to be pushed harder, if the CEO of a company gets credit for creating a good work place, that transcends, all levels of educational, economic, racial areas.
