Pallone to (sort of ) run for U.S. Senate
(Got this from the NJ for Democracy group)

By STEVE KORNACKI
PoliticsNJ.com

December 8 - Frank Pallone will use a late morning press conference at the State House on Thursday to announce that he’s seeking the U.S. Senate seat of Jon Corzine, according to an individual close to the congressman.

But Corzine’s seat will only open up if he is elected governor next November. As governor in January 2006, Corzine would then be able to appoint his successor, who would serve out the balance of a Senate term that is due to expire in January 2007.

2. I would be a lot more comfortable...
With Rob Andrews. He ain't machine.

Besides, "Ain't Machine" is one of the reasons Corzine is running.

And gonna win. Them machine guys lost a lot of cred in the aftermath of the McGreevey thing.

5. Hell no, Robert Andrews would not be good
He is a pro-military person who voted for the war.

Pallone, Holt, Payne, or Menendez would be great choices

7. Anyone but Schundler and Forrester
I'm rooting for Menendez, personally. He seems like a nice guy, too. I'm stuck with Chris Smith for my congressman, but I don't think he's ever expressed any interest in higher office.

3. Is Bob Menendez interested in running?
Now that would be a coup!

4. I hear reasons why he would...
...be willing to take a chance at changing jobs. Being third ranking Democrat in the House is not worth much these days.

Consider the Intelligence Overhaul sham. Even though the country, The Chimp (allegedly), the Senate and the Republic House leadership (doubtful) wanted that legislation to pass, they would not even let it come to a vote if meant Dems getting some credit. If Menendez moves to the Senate, he can accomplish a lot over the next 12 to 18 years.
