Here is the link for the Salon article.

I hadn't heard this, but I'm not in NH these days. Scary, scary stuff.

2. No state tax, no services
A lot of people have moved to NH to get out of paying state taxes, and they are getting what they pay for. That state has had a number of fiscal crises lately...I don't see it getting any better, frankly. Years ago, everyone thought they had it wired, but the wheels seem to be coming off.

I don't think this has a helluva lot of a chance to pass...the House won't go there. The percentage of savings measured against the angst and human interest stories that media loves, plus the increased stress (and subsequent hidden costs) on overtaxed emergency rooms, makes this a real nonstarter. And most importantly, poor people vote.

On the bright side, though, it pushes health care to the fore as a key and resonating issue in 08 during the NH primary, even if they don't go for it.

3. I once lived their and I think I re-call this----
The state would get their budget out of the red at the end of the year with the feds paying off these funds. WELL When they cut down the trees in the White Mountains maybe the state will have more money? OH I forgot that will be cash for big corp, Sorry NH.And now the Portsmouth Navy Yard may be shut, sure it is in Maine, but many people work at it from NH.I can not see NH putting in more taxes.
