Would you vote for Sununu?
Would you consider voting in the Republican primary for Sununu in the 2008 NH primary if the favorite was Frist or Allen or the like?

In 2000, my parents were caught in a similar dilemna, voting for McCain or voting for Bill Bradley. In the end they both voted for McCain (and were interviewed for the CBS Nightly News that day) because they couldn't stand the thought of *.

Answering my own question, I would say yes. I might even consider voting for my hometown senator if I really don't like the Democratic nominee.

4. I don't either
I wouldn't vote for him for Senate in 08, but he has an impressive record for a Republican (science particularly). He'd be a decent President compared to the neo-cons or even Romney. Plus being from Bedford, having a President from my home town would do great things for the area and for NH. I'll entertain the possibility.

7. When I lived in New Hampshire . . .
When I lived in New Hampshire . . . And it was primary voting time. I would jump party at times in order to vote for the Republican Party's weakest candidate. That is, if I knew that the Democratic Party primary election candidate of my choice did not need my vote.

However, I would never vote for a Sununu. Never did. Nope. I've questioned why New Hampshire folks insist upon voting him in as they've done. Didn't New Hampshire get enough Sununu through the father? I thought so. As did many others too. Shaheen would have made a great U.S. Senator and a fantastic voice for the people.

Guys like you are the reason I abandoned the party, Ray. Thanks for providing me with an endless source of justification for that decision. It's so much more rewarding to work for progressive causes.

Jeanne Shaheen's decision to veto a state income tax has and will continue to nail the poor people of NH to the wall. We have a disproportionate number of millionaires who don't pay a dime - and we provide a level of services in this state that would make most third world countries blush.

Our state is funded on booze and butts, and soon gambling, if your pal D'Allessandro has his way. The state is in the booze biz, yet we rank 47th in the nation in spending on alcohol education, prevention, and treatment. We spend absolutely nothing of our tobacco settlement on tobacco education, prevention, or treatment. Over 80% of the people currently incarcerated in our jails/prisons are there because some aspect of substance abuse - and yet we do NOTHING but build more prisons/jails.

NH has a revenue problem. Jeanne Shaheen had the means of fixing it, right there on her desk - and she blew it. An opportunity like that won't be coming along any time soon. Meanwhile the state of NH will continue to balance the budget on the backs of those least able to afford it - so that they can go live in their cars, while the millionaires build more McMansions.

Jeanne Shaheen a great candidate against Saynono? *snorts* Well, we saw how well she did as an advisor to the Kerry campaign. *snorts*

edited for spelling, as usual.

15. Oh Ray
You need to work on your reading comprehension, lambchop. You point out to me where it was I blamed Jeanne Shaheen for the NH loathing of income tax - go ahead, I'll be right here waiting for your apology.

Your knee jerk supposition that anyone who dares to disagree with the party is a Republican is entirely predictable and entirely hilarious.

18. Offensive
As the son and grandson of rape victims I find your excuse of potential rape as deeply offensive. If you know anything about me you know that I am a gay man and your "fear" of being raped by me is certifiably insane.

I offer to have an actual conversation regarding your concerns and you instead attack me with bile filled hate. Right out of the GOP playbook if you ask me.

You would rather rant and rave, and make accusations, than have a mature discussion and work for change. You keep saying you learn more from your critics than your sycophants but you absolutely refuse to have an intelligent discussion. Perhaps you are just repeating something you don't understand.

What kind of logic are you using when you accuse me of trying to "silence you" when I offered to meet with you to discuss your concerns? That is called "empowering" not "silencing".

I do sense a significant amount of anger in your words and that make me sad if you truly are a New Hampshire progressive.

I have spent my entire life fighting and working for progressive action in New Hampshire. I gave 18 years of my life to serve in the NH House voting for liberal causes my constituents did not support, I have served on boards, been arrested at demonstrations and done every kind of action to promote our issues. Your rants are very offensive to me.

Your attack on me for supporting Lieberman is curious. In February 2003 when I made my choice, every major Democratic candidate had the same position on the war, so the war was not a deciding factor for me. Lieberman has a 100% voting record from NARAL, AFL-CIO, HRC, Sierra Club and many others. His actual voting record has him far from the most conservative Democrat. In reality, his record is more progressive than Howard Dean's as governor.

Thirty years ago next month, Joe Lieberman as a Connecticut state senator, spoke eloquently about his support for gay rights. Check out my op-ed piece regarding my support for Lieberman: http://www.baywindows.com/news/2003/12/04/Opinion/Guest.Opinionjoe.Lieberman.A.Record.Of.Integrity-571680.shtml

Every great leader for progressive change has had a vision articulated with words of hope, optimism and encouragement. Their strength of character, leadership and success inspired me since I was a seven year old and started volunteering for campaigns and causes. Your anger and hate are the exact opposite of anyone who has successfully worked to make progressive change. You are either a GOP troll or someone I pity.
