2. If real life were like a Frank Capra film
She would win.

3. Capra wouldn't live in NH
Unfortunately the state party isn't giving Granny D much support. She's being regarded as a cute little old lady.

She is working hard, campaigning accross the state. She spoke in Berlin, NH last week to about 50 people. A redneck newspaper columnist in my area wrote a glowing (and largely incoherent) tribute to her in his column this week. She just isn't getting the kind of help from the state, or national party to actually get anywhere.

4. Dismal poll results

The Concord Monitor/Research 2000 poll last weekend had Gregg leading by a 62%-12% margin. It's ugly. In addition, if you look at the primary vote, there was a huge number of ballots where Democratic voters skipped the Senate race entirely.

The problem is that Granny D has failed to move beyond her role as a novelty act. She has aimed her campaign almost entirely at progressive activists, and has done almost nothing to engage the larger electorate. As a result, what could have been a funky populist crusade has stagnated as a hard-left head-nodding excercise.

6. Well
Talk about not getting party support!

I was out canvassing for her campaign the other day, and I came across some late-teens/early-twenties types canvassing for the democratic party, and they told me the party leadership in Concord told them that she was only running to sap money from the RNC.

Such bullshit. As if Gregg doesn't have millions in special interest money. As if she isn't really running to win.
