The Emperor Has No Clothes: Why the U.S. No Longer Leads the Free World

Date: Wednesday, November 30, 2005

Time: 7:30 p.m. - Barrick Museum Auditorium

Speaker: John Mehrtens, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, UNLV

Description: America sees itself leading the global push toward democracy and human rights. However, tonight's speaker will examine the way in which recent events have caused a severe rift between the US and many longstanding allies. The gap may only grow as America displays a notion of human rights increasingly out-of-step with global opinion. He will argue that the corresponding loss of legitimacy has potentially severe consequences for America's long-term interests.

All events are free, and no reservation is necessary; simply attend at the time and place shown.
