Woman Falls Victim To Prank Sex Ad
Source: KETV: Omaha

An Omaha woman said she was the victim of an online prank that brought strange men to her front door, looking for a good time. Joann Smith said she called police after someone posted a bogus online classified ad on craigslist, claiming that she was hosting a sex party last Thursday.

"(It said) sex party, starting at 10:30 today," she said, reading from the ad. "Everyone is welcome, the more the merrier. Straight, bi, gay, you are all welcome."

At the time of the bogus party, an unknown man knocked on her door and others were waiting in the driveway. "(I thought) why are people just showing up at my house? You could see people driving by. They were going really slow. It was freaking me out."
<snip>

She said four men had knocked on her door before one of them mentioned the ad. "He says, 'Well, there's actually an ad out there that says there's supposed to be sex party,'" she said. " And I go, 'At this place?'"
<snip>

Police said it's a case of harassment and they're looking into it. But Omaha City Prosecutor Marty Conboy said the case may go nowhere.

4. HA! Did a good job, too!
We used to go up to guys at a steel plant I worked at and give them a piece of paper with a phone number on it, and told them they had received an emergency call, and that they needed to respond immediately. Then we would all hide and watch them dial the Sexaholic Hotline. It's was so funny to watch the look on their face when the recording started. They knew that they had been duped, but weren't sure of how to react. Of course, everyone's initial reaction was to look around and see who was watching, only to find a bunch of 8-10 guys laughing their asses off at them.

8. Yes, it's funny when it doesn't happen to US - personally. When we're "it" seems not so funny?

10. No, But It IS Incredibly Vulnerable
To anyone who knows how to whip up enough public outrage to get legislation passed that will FORCE online outlets to take some responsibility for what gets published on their servers.

Ought to be good for jobs.

9. I remember when people would order a pizza delivery or a taxi.
Now it's a buncha horny people looking for anonymous sex? Ick!

Craigslist shouldn't advertise sex parties. That's just asking for major trouble.
