How's Jim Esch polling?
Just curious -- I'm from Council Bluffs (though I go to school at the University of Iowa right now), and I'm sick of seeing that sleazeball Terry on the news. I've heard a lot of optimism about Esch's chances -- is that still the same?

1. He's not
at least I haven't seen any polls. I think Esch likes it that way - Lee Terry has no idea how much trouble he is in. Lee Terry is an empty suit and kind of a dumbass and I don't think hardly anyone in Omaha would disagree. I have only heard one radio ad for Lee Terry and I have only heard it once despite the fact that I listen to alot of talk radio. Esch is kicking Terry's ass in yard signs. What does it all mean? I think an Esch win is realistic. I also think Lee Terry beating him down on election day is realistic. Despite following this race prety closely, I have no idea how it will come out but thanks for asking :hi:

2. I talked to someone on his campaign staff
Edited on Mon Oct-09-06 09:45 PM by StoryTeller
...a few days ago, and asked pretty much the same question. She said they hadn't done any polls of their own. The only polls that have been done to her knowledge were by Rickett's people, who did polling on all the Nebraska races. But of course they aren't sharing their numbers with the Esch people. But this person I spoke with said that their feeling is that they're within range.

It would be really, really great to get Esch elected. I'm trying to take baby steps to volunteer some of my time, but I have never helped with any campaign before in my life, so for some reason it feels terribly intimidating. The person I talked to gave me some good ideas, and put me in contact with one of the team leaders, so I'm getting plugged in. But if anyone else who hasn't volunteered already would like to jump in, too, I know they'd appreciate the help.

They're running this campaign without any PAC money or anything like that. It's all very grassroots. It would be nice to see all his hard work and efforts at keeping his integrity pay off.

It would be terrific to get Terry out of there.

Go Jim!

3. Believe me, you'll enjoy it
It's not hard at all, and the staff and Jim's family are great people to get along with.

4. "Sign Polls"
In the Neighborhoods I drive through (Midtown, Dunddee, Benson), there are almost no "Lee Terry" signs but there are a lot of "Jim Esch" Signs.

How is it elsewhere in Omaha? Does anybody notice?

5. Same here...
I live in midtown, but we drive all over the city for various things. I think I've seen maybe one or two Terry signs further west. But that's it.

And of course, there's the Jim Esch bus benches. Did you all know people are taking photos of the Esch benches? If you send them in to his website, they'll post them.

6. South O and Bellevue lots of SIGNS!!!

I don't see many for Terry anywhere. Is he just laying low because of ALL the bad press for the R's?
