Attention St. Louis area DUers!!
Jane Cunningham is a repuke state rep from St. Louis who seems to be on a mission to destroy public education in MO. This year, she promoted voucher legislation that grants "Angell Opportunity Scholarships" to kids in KC, St. Louis and Wellstone school districts only. One of her talking points is that "95% of the kids who graduate from the KC school district are functionally illiterate".

I teach in KC and that statement is blatantly false. MAP scores don't support it, SAT scores don't support it, SAT scores don't support it and our own district assessments don't support that statement.

Well I just found out that the liar herself will be part of a forum next week in St. Louis to discuss the legislative session. I am including a notice I got about this event in an email. If I wasn't at the end of the school year, I would take off and drive across the state to confront Ms. Cunningham and ask her where she is getting the data to support her statement that 95% of the kids in KC are functionally illiterate when they graduate.

I am hoping that there is at least one DUer in the St. Louis area who is available during the day and is willing to go to this event. It looks like it is free. Just think of the service you will be doing to 20,000 students in the KC school district! And besides, if she is lying about a school district 200+ miles away from her, imagine what she may be saying about the schools in her area! PM me and I will give you more talking points if you need them. I am on a mission to shut this woman up.
