Alright, fellow Missourians
I am making my first post that is not a response to someone else's post.
Where does everyone live?

I will start.

1. Springfield
We're not ALL Republicans down here.

How many posts do we have to make before we can start
a thread?

From the FAQ:

New members are restricted from starting new discussion topics. We require you to first post responses to a few existing discussion threads before you are given the privilege to do so. We wish we did not have to enforce this rule, but we have found it very helpful to keep disruptors off of our message board. Please do not ask what the minimum number is; we won't tell you, and it's not very high. New members are similarly restricted from using the private messaging function or recommending topics for the Greatest Page.

Looking out my window at the City Market.
And no, nothing has blown up down here for years.
Except maybe for me!

Oh, and by the way...

GO BRONCOS!!!
Can't wait for another road trip to Denver in September to see the Broncos v Chiefs. One of the best rivalries in the NFL.

13. We're way up here in the corner by ourselves sniff, sniff
Savannah specifically, it's pretty red here, but it's home. This was a nice quiet little democratic town at one time. Then a few years ago we became a suburban bedroom community and here came the reptiles fucking things up.
Our local paper was The Andrew County Democrat, for about 100 years, then a few years ago some chimp* loving reptile bought it, the name was the first to go, then they had all the local bigwig reptiles spouting hate and ideology from collumns,
It went to hell, the local democratic steering committee sucks ass, I've been to the meetings, they're run by tired old people whose vision and inspiration went poof years ago.
They're entrenched though, and it's going to take explosives to dislodge them, and we're going to get the shit kicked out of us here until then.

27. Hi!
Yep! and I'm going to be working at the dem tent there, so stop by and see me! : )

The repub tent is right next to the dem tent, and the last few years the repubs have had a lifesize cardboard George Bush figure outside their tent. I haven't figured out yet how I'm going to be able to stand looking at a lifesize cardboard George Bush all day, but I'll just think of it as a sacrifice for the country or something.

29. Or you could "encourage" some high school students
into vandalizing the cutout.
I'm going to try to hit the State Fair this year (our schools started at the same time the fair started last year so I couldn't. This year school starts towards the end of August). I will definitely have to stop by.
Some of the members of the Prog Women's group from town are supposed to work the booth too.

33. that was very cool!
I wasn't old enough to attend, but I remember the town suddenly filling up with thousands and thousands of kids. A few months ago i was in Philly, and the cab driver asked where I was from. When I said "Sedalia" he got all excited and started talking about the festival. I've had that same experience in places all over the country. I'm jealous that you actually got to be there!

36. It was fun
Of all the bands there I remember seeing the Eagles, I couldn't even begin to tell you who else was there. I saw the only death there, It was hot, damn hot and humid, just like now, I was wading in a pond there, 1/2 foot of water two feet of mud when I stepped on something and cut my foot.
I headed over to the clinic to get it cleaned up, and while I was standing there a medic came tunning carrying a guy who was white and blue, I watched them try to get him back, but, he waas gone.
It was there I was introduced to nitrous oxide as a buzz, people were selling huge balloons for a quarter a piece. people were falling out, laughing with tears running down their cheeks.
I loved going to the dentist after that, they'de put the mask on and I'd huff it as deep as possible.
I was only seventeen at the time, the things I saw there had a profound impact on me. If ever you get the chance to attend a large festival do it.

Why not have a cardboard cutout of KKKarl the leaker set up so that fluids can be dispensed from the appropriate orifice -- no, can't do that with kids there. Just have holes all over KKKarl dispensing various fluids -- root beer from a shoulder, coke from his stomach, etc.
