Hey Missouri cyclists!
Missouri Speaker of the House Rod Jetton (R) is sponsoring a free ride over the KATY trail this coming week.

While Speaker Jetton's thrust is fitness (and fitness is a worthy goal regardless of party) this is a perfect opportunity for cyclists to ride from end to end of the Katy, and maybe get the message out about saving the KATY Trail for all our sakes.

Why let the Republicans co-opt these important messages. Come in your best blue jersey, get your message on your chest or back, and ride the whole length of the state, showing your KATY trail pride. Show the world that you stand for fitness, and the best place to be fit is the jewel of the crown of Missouri parks, the KATY trail!

Note that one day's ride ends in Boonville, where the KATY rail bridge is in danger of being sold off by MoDOT and Baby Blunt. If you can only ride one day, Sedalia to Boonville should be it.

It is not too late to register, in fact you can register any day of the ride. This ride will have a couple free meals, free camping most of the way, and you can probably still get some B&B reservations in order if you do it today.

So ride your beater bike, your hybrid, your Carbon road bike, your granny's trike, or whatever you got that will make it. You won't regret it, and you will make a difference.

Who knows, you might inspire a few Republicans with your fitness, sincerity, and commitment. Ok, maybe not, but you won't know if you don't try. Are you fit enough? Got a day or two to spare?

You have been challenged!

1. A ride report forthcoming.
But first a correction.
It is MoDNR, not MoDOT who is wanting to give up the bridge.
It was a very interesting ride, for many reasons.

More later.

3. On the Jetton Ride?
I may have a picture of him.
What does he look like?
What kind of bike does he ride?
