This is the statement Jimmy Massey made to his commanding officer while in Iraq and which led to his eventual honorable discharge in December of 2004. He is a twelve-year self-described "gung ho" U.S. Marine Corps veteran who spent time as both a recruiter and boot camp instructor, He is a native of North Carolina where he now resides with his wife in the town of Waynesville, NC. His time in Iraq changed his views dramatically. Jimmy is one of the original twelve founding members of Iraq Veterans Against the War.
IRAQ WAR VETERAN SPEAKS OUT Jimmy Massey, an Iraq war veteran, will spend three days in the Twin Cities April 8-10, addressing the media and attending public events. Massey, a member of Iraq Veterans Against the War, is a twelve-year former US Marine Corps Staff Sergeant honorably discharged in December of 2003. He took part in the initial invasion of Iraq and the drive to Baghdad. He witnessed and took part in the killing of innocent civilians which turned him against the war. He has recently completed a book "Cowboys From Hell" and is seeking a publisher. Calender of Events: Friday, April 8th, 7pm Reception and social gathering for Jimmy Massey at the CWA Local 7200 Union Hall, (3521 E. Lake St., Minneapolis). Massey will speak briefly. Vietnam veteran and singer/song writer Jerry Rau will perform. Food and refreshments will be available. This is a fundraiser and will help pay for Jimmy Massey's visit here. Suggested minimum donation is $10.
