Saw Mark Dayton at Linden Hills Park today
The recreation center meeting hall was standing room only, and I saw a lot of people from the Kucinich campaign, including DUer wheresthemind, in attendance.

Mark explained covered a lot of ground in his talk, and I wish I could have taken notes, but he's obviously found himself, and the audience responded well, especially when he talked about his opposition to the Iraq War and being one of only three senators to vote against the confirmation of John Negroponte to run Iraq.

He told about being in the same Yale fraternity with Bush back in the 1960s and joked that he told Republicans, "There were times when Bush and I were in the same party." He also said, "At these parties, I saw Bush assume positions that the Republicans would never imagine."

I came away pleased that Mark Dayton is representing us and that he is speaking out on the issues.

1. Dayton is a good shi.... er, bowel movement! Seriously though...
Best part about his election, was political opportunist Norman Coleman (call him "Norm" and you'll suffer my wrath!) saying, via AM1500 (local Republican mouthpiece) that Dayton was a nutjob, runs for any open office, couldn't be elected dog catcher, etc... Now He's Dayton's Jr. Senator...

He Norman... got your bitch right here, bitch!

2. I missed it, but you were there!
Very cool! I also got a good report this afternoon from a few Kucitizens who were there. They said Mark was in good form and certainly good with the gathered crowd! I believe the Kucitizens were videotaping him, too, as he has come out recently against a prolonged occupation of Iraq.

As an aside: Mark Dayton has been very helpful with some of us Kucitizens who are working on influencing the platform and direction of the party. He's agreed to let us use footage of him talking about his new Iraq plan. At his party last Saturday night at the convention, he was VERY supportive of us Kucitizens, and told us to "light a fire under John Kerry"! VERY kind words considering Mark was an early Kerry supporter!

It's really great to see how much he's grown in office-- even though it's still his first term! I had my doubts about him in his first election (ignoring the endorsement and running in the primary), but he is certainly doing one hell of a job for us!

:hi:
