My LTTE about bringing the troops home was in the Strib yesterday
I know a lot of DUers don't support this view about bringing the troops home now but I am with Ted Kennedy on this one. I think the Iraqis showed enormous bravery in risking their lives to cast a vote for anonymous candidates. The truth will surface eventually on whether many of those votes were tied to food rations. http://www.dahrjamailiraq.com/hard_news/archives/hard_news/000192.php

Bring them home
On Monday, let's declare victory in Iraq and start bringing the troops home.

We forced Iraqis to have a bogus election. We leveled cities, ruined infrastructure, killed more than 100,000 and maimed twice as many. We've inspired a new generation of outraged Muslims. We've sacrificed 1,400 of our soldiers and hundreds from other countries. We've spent $200 billion to create chaos at home and abroad. We've turned the world against us.

Our job in Iraq is complete. Let's claim victory and go home.

1. You're everywhere! I saw you in the PP yesterday, too.
Congrats on hitting a double! This one got first billing, too, I think. Good job!

I've been sending a lot of letters lately. :-)
This one was in the PP:

Are the U.S. media complicit partners in the Bush administration's war of aggression?

In order to make sense of a senseless war, I have to believe that most Americans are unaware of the uncommon brutality against humanity that is being waged in our name. Why wasn't a photo of the five surviving children, riding in a car with their parents when U.S. soldiers gunned them down on Jan. 18, shown on the front page of every newspaper in America? Why are the media hiding the reality of U.S. aggression from the populace? Why must informed citizens turn to the international media in order to get a true picture of the outputs of our foreign policy?

4. I think some of the accolades from leaders around the world
are based on the same thinking: "Good job, George. You won. Now get out of Iraq and focus on your own democracy."

6. I thought it was a great letter when I read it
and I think it's even better now that I know who wrote it! (I don't know why, but I have a habit of not registering the writers' names when I read LTEs.)

7. Thanks.
It seems like the letters that I fire off when I'm really sad or ticked off get picked up. The ones I agonize over and try to polish never get printed.

Guess that says something about speaking from the heart.
