Anti-Torture Protest

4:30 to 6:00 p.m.
University of St. Thomas School of Law, 1000 LaSalle Avenue, Minneapolis

Tackling Torture at the Top (T3) will be outside on the sidewalk at the University of St. Thomas's 10th anniversary celebration to protest their continued employment of Professor Delahunty and his co-writing of two "torture memos", that claimed that it was okay to torture "non-state actors"—ie, anyone not in an official nation uniform, if the U.S. government decides they should be tortured.

Sponsored by: T3.

1. Hard to believe that a liberal arts Catholic University condones the writing of "torture memos".
Very sad when the places that should be teaching ethics are ignoring the most heinous violations of ethical behavior - looking the other way instead of strongly condemning torture.

2. Don't forget Sept 21 George Bush comes to Minneapolis
Yes, and don't forget there is another anti-torture vigil outside Beth El Synagogue in St. Louis Park the following day, this one due to George Bush's being feted by the Synagogue. This is the same synagogue that hosted Condi Rice, Ari Fleischer and a host of other pro-war, torture proponents. The Synagogue, if you can believe this, is selling three (silver to platinum) levels of tickets to their big money, pro Bush boosters. For $3,600 per person, the "platinum ticket" gets you hors d'oeuvres and a photo with George Bush.

Beginning at 4 pm, our anti-torture group will have anti-torture banners, signs and orange Gitmo jumpsuits and black hoods on hand for some street theatre. We have descriptions and statements from some of Bush's torture victims and detainees to read. Then when it gets darker, we'll have a candlelight vigil outside Beth El.

Can anyone figure why Beth El wants to honor the likes of war criminals like Condi Rice and George Bush?!!

Join us in the protest against George Bush from 4 to 7 pm, Beth El Synagogue, St. Louis Park, MN.
