Now if only the repukes hadn't taken over the legislature. Still, good news is good news.

3. Excellent!
At least he had the sense to let it go instead of dragging the whole process out for months like Norm "The Weasel" Coleman. He didn't have a serious chance of changing the outcome -- a very good thing, since he's such a far-out winger that if he'd been elected (*shudder*) we'd wish we had Pawlenty back.

10. Especially with the Republicans controlling the legislature
Dayton is the only one that stands between them and the total destruction of Minnesota.

4. Vote margin to great to continue
If it was much closer they would probably drag it out, but almost 9000 votes means any sane person thinks it is over (most DFLers and Independents think that) but the Strib reports a plurality (but not majority) of Republicans think Emmer should drag this through the mud as far as he can go.

5. Great news, but I'll believe it when I hear those words from Emmer himself.
Better yet - I wanna see asswipe Sutton choke them out. Loser.

8. Tony needs to eat a sh*t taco.
Do you want a soft shell or hard shell with that Tony?

11. His concession speech on the evening news was honorable and commendable
I was certainly glad to hear that he wouldn't mount a legal challenge in order to extend Pawlenty's term.

With the race behind him, he seemed like a regular guy instead of a dangerous wackjob. Makes me wonder if some of his image might have been mere political theater, designed to appeal to his wingnut base.

12. Those are the sneaky, dangerous ones.
The wingnuts who come across as nice, normal people. Mike Huckabee is another one -- you gotta watch those guys because they *seem* like pleasant, reasonable, sane people.

13. No.
The "regular guy" act is the theater. Just in case he wants to make a come back.

14. You are very, very correct.
Emmer is the one who said that liberals were traitors or some such Bachmann-esque nonsense - long before he was running for governor. He is a dangerous, crazy wingnut and it's scary he got within 8700 votes of leading this state WITH a Repuke legislature. *shudder*

15. That would have been like WI's current setup
with now two GOP houses and that wingnut Walker as governor.

6. Truly great news!
I bet Sutton & Co. aren't happy about it either...probably wanted to continue to use Emmer to drag things out.
