I wonder if the weasel is sweating yet.

Should Franken take the lead before the official recount begins do you suppose Norman will decide that the people have spoken and concede to spare us the cost of a recount?

1. I'm having Florida flashbacks
from 2000 where the vote difference between Gore went down each day. Let's hope someone discovers they called in 851 Coleman votes when the number was really 581 or some such favorable error.

2. Maybe he will catch up before the recount even begins...

Remember that Coleman just said yesterday that he would concede and call of the recount if he was in Franken's shoes. I really want to see him in Franken's shoes, I know he would go back on his word but it would show everyone what a fraud the guy is.

3. I wonder what would happen if Franken went up far enough
that the difference was greater than the statute requires for an automatic recount - would the whole thing be called off?

4. I don't think that will happen, but if it did the recount would still go on...

And many more questions would be raised as well. I don't see any way that Franken could pick up 15,000 votes before the recount unless there was major election fraud discovered and if that happened there would be a lot of money spent on recounting several races.

6. Yes. The current numbers are unofficial.
In the unlikely case that one of the candidates is ahead by more than .5% when the results are certified, there won't be an automatic recount.

11. So I was having another day dream (I gotta get some work done)
Given Norm's concern about the cost to the taxpayer, if Franken pulls ahead even by 1 vote before the certification, Normie should concede. Not only will it save us the cost of the recount, it will save us the cost of the ethics investigation.

7. X factor
Why does Franken gain votes every 6 hours or so? Absentee ballots?

8. The absentee ballots were all supposed to be scanned on Election Day.
I don't get it, either.

There was at least one error today where a precinct corrected that they had "entered 24 for Franken instead of 124 when the county's final votes were tallied at 5:25 Wednesday morning."

But were similar errors fixed every hour today?

10. According to today's Strib
there was a big entry error made in Partridge Township in Pine County. They entered 24 for Franken instead of 124. The article says this happened at about 5:30 Wednesday morning so I imagine the person doing the entry was pretty tired. This is the kind of thing they find after every election (transposed numbers, other data entry errors) usually they don't make any difference to the outcome and there isn't any reason to think this was anything but an honest mistake.

9. Each county auditor is checking their data entry against counts from machine per precinct
Plenty of room for human error being corrected
