Mark Kennedy casts deciding vote in favor of ugly budget cuts
"Fourteen Republicans voted "no," including several who had harshly condemned the bill in the days leading up to the vote. Rep. Mark Kennedy, R-Minn. who faces a challenging Senate race cast the decisive vote. Then, Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Joe Barton, R-Texas, only reluctantly followed with the final "aye" vote. He was upset over a decision by Hastert to drop a long-sought provision to open the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, known as ANWR, to oil drilling and sent a clear signal he would not vote for a final bill without the drilling plan."

There ya have it. BushCo Waterboy Mark Kennedy cast not just any old vote, but the DECIDING vote to cut $50 billion in food stamps, Medicaid and student loans to make way for more tax cuts for the rich. That should make a few nice campaign ads, Mark. In fact, they're probably already in the can.

1. I'm looking forward to crushing Screech Kennedy in '06
Don't know which primary candidate I'm supporting yet. But sending Screech back to his make-believe christmas village will be an honor and a privilege.

2. Yes, and it is good news that
ALL senate candidates were above Kennedy in the most recent Zogby poll. That number will continue to go up, givevn recent trends, especially this awful budget bill vote.

3. They may be behind now
but the polls could change quickly depending on how much that anti-gay marriage ammendment goes. It seems that the MN GOP seems to be doing a high stakes bet on that emotional, yet needless issue.

6. Hopefully the DFL can stop the amendment
like they did last time it was brought up.

4. Markie kennedy there has flip-flopped and even broken his own rules before
And were used in the 2004 campaign.

Didn't stop him from winning; with people saying "Patty Wetterling has no experience"... :eyes: (So people WANT career politicians?! No wonder we're fucked, and in the most S&M/bondage type way!)

5. yes, but in his heavily GOP district
that he could only win by 6 points. Most Republicans can easily win by 12 there.

8. Rubber stamp
He is proud of his vote according to my top secret inside republican resources aka "campaign email".

From the email:
"I cast the deciding vote on the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005, which will help curb out of control spending, saving taxpayers $50 billion over the next 10 years"

So he is willing to tie himself to that vote. We can use that as ammo. Republican Jim Ramstad even voted against it. Kennedy just does what he is told. Correct me if I am wrong but didn't that vote cut funding for school lunches, WIC programs for starving mothers and children, and many other areas that Minnesotans care about? We cannot let the public for get this.

I know all house Dems were united in voting against that bill, any word on the rest of the Minnesota Republican delegation?
