What is it with these St. Paul DINO mayors?
First, there was Norm Coleman. Now, I just read this article about Randy Kelly, and his dilemma of staying with the party or jumping ship.

Turns out he was endorsed by Coleman in 2001. Go figure.

Kelly's choice: Is it Bush or Kerry? Or changing parties?
Dane Smith and Joe Kimball, Star Tribune
July 31, 2004

Political soothsayers in Minnesota's capital city were saying sooth madly Friday, but the theorizing had little to do with the "bounce" that Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry got from his acceptance speech.

The hotter topic was whether DFL St. Paul Mayor Randy Kelly would finally report for duty with his party this weekend.

Kelly's intentions in regard to Kerry remain as closely guarded as D-Day invasion plans. He will make a "special announcement" at noon Sunday and hold a "round-table discussion" with the news media.

Nobody in the know in the mayor's office would speak, even off the record. Howard Orenstein, a chief policy adviser and liberal DFLer who recently announced he was leaving Kelly's staff, also was not available.
