2. Shouldn't he be having it in his own district and not in MLPS?
Kind of defeats the purpose of generating support in his own district if he is up in Minneapolis.

3. This is my first time posting...
I have lurked for over a year but have been to lazy to set up my preferences. Now that the Mpls city elections are over and I have some time, I'm ready to jump in! Thought I'd start with the local forums.

Actually, I think there is a lot of support for Tim Walz outside of the 1st CD. He is a candidate that demonstrates the utmost integrity and is running a stellar campaign against Gil. Getting his name out in the Twin Cities will only give him a name recognition factor up here that will help his campaign in the 1st, which will in turn generate some real grassroots support. Sometimes we activists in the Cities long to make a trip to an outside district to help! Tim is certainly worthy of this support.

This will be a great event and a fabulous opportunity to visit with Mr. Cleland. I hope you can make it!

8. Where's NewYawker?
Welcome to DU!

People will migrate from the cities to help a candidate, and money comes from the cities to support candidates, too. So it makes sense to do a fundraiser in the cities.

4. candidates from both parties do this all the time!
that is have events at areas of the state where the candidate's party is strong to pull in money to the campaign. and the twin cities area is definately stronger dfl than southern mn. it's a once in a while thing.

9. Maybe they should invite Matt Entenza and ask him...
...whether he ever registered for the draft when he was legally obligated to do so. Then watch the expression on his face.
