2. Toilet Joe
must have really dominated northern Oakland County. I'm in Royal Oak and I saw nothing but Skiner signs down here, must have been alot of split tickets, because Granholm won Oakland county. She put up a nice fight, but it was tough to compete with his money. That's really too bad, I hate living in a neocons district.

Did Andy Levin lose also?

3. Andy lost by 776 votes or thereabout
I can't remember everything, but off the top of my head, Nancy won in Berkley, Royal Oak, Farmington Hills, Pontiac (by a very wide margin), West Bloomfield and perhaps others.

But she lost big in Troy, Rochester, Rochester Hills, Bloomfield Hills and Bloomfield Township.

There were some cities that were extremely close -- she barely lost Clawson, for example.

Had Pontiac had an enormous turnout rather than the 36+ percent they had, she may have been able to pull it out, but it wasn't to be.

Go to:
http://www.oakgov.com
You can check out the results by jurisdiction.

I'm really bummed out about Andy as well as Nancy. I went to bed thinking he had won.

6. Thanks, Mo
I'm so glad I had planned to take today off because I knew I'd be up late last night. I needed a day to regroup.

I'm also trying to get over a cold or sinus infection or something I've had for the last 10 days.

I'm so going to miss working on the campaign and all of the people -- the dedicated staff and volunteers. It's been a great 9 months or so and I've had so many wonderful experiences and met so many great people.

Leaving the party last night was kind of like the last day of camp. It's always so hard to leave. Hopefully a lot of us will keep in touch.

15. Channel 4 had called the race for Andy at some point Tuesday nite
It's too bad. I thought he'd win, but I guess they like that idiot Pappageorge. Sort of like the way the idiots in Warren like Mark Steenburgh. Warren has changed demographically since the last mayoral election, so Steenburgh's (and the GOP's) days may be numbered.

9. I couldn't possibly be more disappointed.
When you talk to her, tell her I said she will always be a winner to me.
Damn shame. She would have excelled in Washington.
I'm sure you're feeling much the same. :(
To Nancy and all the volunteers who worked so hard...

I'm so disappointed about Nancy, but also Tony and Jim, as well as Andy Levin.

I don't know if I can ever put my heart and soul that like that into another campaign. It's too heartbreaking when it's over. Of course, if Nancy ever decided to run again, I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

14. Nancy, you helped win a Democratic congress
The loss is devastating to all involved but know this, YOU AND EVERYONE ON YOUR TEAM ELECTED A DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS.

You, Jim and Tony served as anchors to Joe, Mike and Thadius. Over $5million was forced to stay in these three districts. As of 10/31 Knollenburg showed less than $180k COH. You efforts forced him to spend over $2million. In all, $5million was locked down in these three districts. Sure it made your climb that much harder but it is $5million that was NOT spent elsewhere in the country that may have preserved a GOP majority. Make no mistake about, your local loss was painful BUT IT ELECTED A DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS. THIS IS NO SMALL THING. Knollenburg was left broke and it wouldn't surprise me if he retires next cycle. All of your efforts were substantial.

16. Well said. Old Joe won't like being in the minority.
He has spent just about all his time there in the majority, and got fat and happy on power. I would lay money on this being his last term.

Like the Tigers, Nancy has absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, I think the hard line GOP in this area is pretty darn scared...as they should be. Seeing 'ole L. Brooks hammer his home folk on the day after was just priceless.

Bless you Nancy. You, and the Tigers, WILL BE BACK!

17. I agree -- this just may be Joe's last stand
That would definitely open up the gates in '08.

18. Too bad. I sure hope she plans to run again in two years.
Obviously, a little more attention from the national party could have pulled this one out for Skinner. Knollenberg will be two years older, and two years farther behind the times in 2008. That may be HER time. I hope she plans to run again.

19. Time will tell.
I agree that if the national party had gotten behind her and sent some money her way, we could have pulled it off. She needed more exposure earlier and more money for ads would have helped.

Maybe Joe will hang it up after this term. I think with an unknown Repub in his place, we'd have a better shot. The issues may be very different the next time around, too, depending on how much our new Democratic Congress is able to accomplish in the next two years. If we're lucky, the war may not be as much of an issue and, hopefully, they will have accomplished something in the energy/global warming/alternative fuel area by then.
