FBI Investigation Targeting Councilwoman Conyers
According to the Detroit News, Detroit Councilwoman Monica Conyers is being targeted by the feds.

The News reports federal agents have surveillance allegedly showing Conyers receiving a payment or payments in connection with the city-approved sludge contract.

The News says Conyers and one other city council member are under FBI investigation in connection with possible bribes related to the $47-million contract with Synagro

FOX 2 is told other people outside of city government may also be targets.

Conyer's lawyer says any allegations against her should be viewed with skepticism.

I'm sure some people will say its a hit job, but after that Shrek comment, does this really surprise anyone? Detroit politics has hit a new low if thats even possible.

She's so classless and, it seems, corrupt. I hope he's able to stay clear of the mess around her. It'd be a shame for his efforts to fight this administration to be overshadowed by his wife's stupidity.

I used to live in Conyers' district, and I always liked him. I particularly liked the way he would take up unpopular causes on principle, like the abuse of female inmates in Michigan prisons during the Engler years.

But Monica is going to ruin him-this is going to go deeper than anyone thinks, if the feds start looking at Kwame's daddy, county-level politics, the late Ed McNamara's business dealings and Wayne County Airport contracts. It could end up taking out several high profile politicians from both parties.
