Health care in Massachusetts is in crisis. Employers dropped
coverage for more than 90,000 people between 2000 and 2004. But
now we have the chance to reverse that trend with a bill to make
employers who refuse to cover their workers share the cost of
covering the uninsured.

Currently in Massachusetts, employers who offer health care
coverage to their workers also are forced to help pay the price
of covering the uninsured. But a bill just passed by the
Massachusetts House of Representatives would shift the cost to
employers who don't offer health care coverage, encouraging more
businesses to provide health coverage for their workers.

The state Senate's version of the bill did not include this
important change, and now the final bill is being worked out in
a conference committee. Please take action today: Send an e-mail
to your state representative and senator and urge them to
support this change in the House version of the bill.
